Hi, I am new to the site. We are about to start an FET cycle and I cant remember what the protocol is? Is it 2 months long? ANy help would be appreciated.
Hi Lisa,
From my understanding, an FET will always be the lenght of your natural cycle - unless you need to undergo a medicated cycle. Generally you contact your clinic on the first day of your cycle (first day of AF). You may then be booked in for a scan 10 or so days later (depending on your cycle lenght) to see if your lining is thickning, and that you are producing a follicle. You will then use start urine tests to detect your LH surge which signals that you are about to ovulate. You may also have a blood test to check for your surge. Approx 2 (or 5 days if it is a blast) days post ovulation, you will have your transfer. You are then in the two week wait. You may or may not have progesterone support during this time. You will have a blood test approx 14 days past transfer to see if you are pg.
If you dont naturally ovulate on your own, you may have a different cycle with drugs given from the start to get your body to ovulate. I'm not sure of the details and if that may extend your cycle...sorry.
A stim cycle is generally longer than a FET cycle as you are on meds to control hormones and produce lots of eggs.
Hope this helps and good luck with your cycle. Wishing you a BFP!

: taking of sig!
My HRT FET cycle took 21 days to get to transfer - that was because my lining took a while to thicken up. Generally if your body behaves it should just be the length of a normal cycle. So in total mine was 35 days from start to pregnancy test.
that's great, thanks for the thread and the replies...
i'm also hopefuly doing fet in january but our clinic hasn't told us anything of what's involved or to expect. mind you i was so shocked at the bfn that i was not thinking about fet when i spoke to them.
