    Does alcohol affect ovulation?

I am going on a cruise next month for work. Boss's are paying so free beer, wine and champagne for the night. Problem is: If I go by my last two 60 day cycles, I will be due to ovulate December 13th and the cruise is December 12th.
I really want to have a few drinks and relax, well maybe more than a few, maybe 5-6 wines I have been so good for like 2 years and have barely had anything to drink. But this will be the last shot I have before moving onto IUI, so it's REALLY important to me.

What do you think? Will it have any effect on ovulation? will my egg be of any less quality?
And what if I do ovulate a few days before the cruise, then I will be in the TWW. That make the decision to drink even harder! And then if i go and don't drink I will just sit there and watch everyone else have a great time, and end up getting another BFN and then be kicking myself for not drinking. ( as I have done for the past 2 years)

    Aaargh! What should I do?

Hi Tasha I believe follicle recruitment starts 3 months before ovulation, so technically anything you do in that time could effect egg quality, however given you have been so good for so long I highly doubt one or two days drinking would make any impact on the follie you would be about to ovulate. I personally would only avoid it is it was on O or from 5 dpo as if anything alcohol could effect endo quality. Just my thoughts. I hope you can enjoy yourself and also hope this last chance gets you the perfect ending xx

Tasha go for it, I drink when I am not doing a cycle and it has never affected my ovulation, I'm always clockwork. You will be fine, enjoy yourself!

The fetilised embie doesn't implant til about 7 dpo, so no drinkng should affect you before then. I'd have a good time, within reason of course .
