    Scared of Clomid

I was prescribed clomid in September 2011... I got AF a few days after the prescription but decided to wait until the next cycle to start it - I am still on that cycle. Currently CD57 and am kind of glad that AF has stayed away (did a HPT = BFN). I kind of feel like I am scared to take the clomid.

I remember when I first joined BB and I read a story about a member who was having hot flushes etc... I can't remember all of the details but I remember being glad it wasn't me and also being glad when I was on metformin last time (when we conceived DD) instead of clomid.

I don't want to google symptoms and I can't find threads on the effects of clomid... would anyone be willing to share their experience?

Also, I forgot to ask my Gynae if I can take Clomid whilst BFing... does anyone know? I will ring MotherSafe in the morning also.

    TIA

I have done 6 months of clomid - and really I barely noticed any symptoms at all!! Maybe a little sooky more than usual - but that could easily have been because it was 12 months since we had started TTC. I think my periods got a bit heavier after starting the clomid - but I think as it made my cycle more regular and I was actually ovulating, my body was probably doing what it was supposed to. Of course everyone reacts differently, but I wouldn't worry too much honey - it will be fine!!!
Give it a go - if your body reacts badly the first month you can always skip the next month. It's a much better method to ensure O than metformin.

    best of luck!

I was a bit apprehensive at first. But I wanted a baby so bad I'd so anything for it. I got the hot flushes they weren't too bad tbh. This time on the 200mg my ovulation was so painful it was a relief when it happened.

As for b/f I'm not sure. The info says tell your dr/pharmacist if you are.

Don't be scared, good luck hun

i have been prescribed clomid to start when AF arrives (currently CD84 post d&c so i totally get that frustration!) - i am still BF DD and the gyne didn't even bat an eyelid, so i guess it's no drama!

i had the hot flushes and mood swings and some discomfort - and really didn't enjoy it BUT given i won't go down the IUI/IVF path again for numerous reasons, it's this or nothing.

Ugh I hate clomid. It made my depression so much worse. It also dried up my CM and thinned my lining. So it was a hindrance for us and we would have been better not to use it at all. But I understand this isn't the most common response and many women conceive just fine on it, it just didn't happen for us. Best of luck hun .

I didn't have many side effects, only hot flashes at night (cos that's when i took the tablets as recommended by lovely ladies from here ) So I just slept with a fan in the bedroom. Other than that it wasn't even bad. It did dry up my cm though so we just used pre-seed. I couldn't wait to start clomid as we were having no luck doing anything else. Unfortunately it didn't work for us, but there are plenty of ladies it has worked for in the first few cycles.
What have you got to loose? Good luck

I took Clomid day 2-6 and got headaches and hot flushes. I also took metformin with it to conceive DD1. I dont know ifyoucan BF while taking Clomid I would call Mothersafe and ask for sure.

It is not recommended to take Clomid if you have history of anxiety or depression.

I took Clomid for approx. 6 cycles and had insomnia, night sweats, terrible mood swings - I think that was all (sorry it was a while ago). Unfortunately no BFP for me on Clomid, even though blood test confirmed O.

I didn't have any emotional symptoms that I could put down to clomid. I was a bit emotional but that was probably TTC and not clomid. I think clomid made me a bit excited that I was doing something. I took the medication before bed so I could sleep through any side effects. The side effects I had were physical. My ovaries close to ovulation felt like I had a marble in there, but again I felt positive about it as I felt like my body was doing what it was supposed to be doing. The really negative side effect I had which ended my time on clomid was it dried up my CM to the point I was in a lot of discomfort. I think it can dry you up a little but it was an issue how dry I became. Due to this issue I was swapped onto FSH.

Overall, I would definitely give clomid again if I was to do it all again. All the emotional things I read about didn't happen to me.

Tk1999 - I was on clomid two cycles 50mg and 100mg - i didnt have any side effects at all. but it did work for me as it definately shortened my cycles (going from 49 days to 31 days) and also resulted in a BFP and only 5 weeks to go!

Good luck on your TTC journey - i hope if you do try clomid you experience nothing but positives from it!

    Totally understandable to feel anxious.

Give it a try though, may not be as bad as what you've heard. It's definitely a different experience for everyone. I had hot flushes on the last couple of days and was a bit of a hormone monster, but not that much different to when AF comes around! It was all worth it - helped us conceive.

Best of luck with whatever path you take

I hope everything goes well for you. I took one cycle of clomid with no side effects and fell pregnant with my DD.
