Hi all,
Kaydee: you are so close!! Good luck. Will definately check back on Wed pm for your (hopefully) good news.
Megsmum: I don't think you're cold will affect your chances, esp if there hasn't been a fever. I'm just a few days behind you, my beta blood test will be due the 30th.
Cherie: Glad the trigger went well. I couldn't believe how painful the pregnyl was. I actually got my DH to give it and asked him to give it quickly - which was a big mistake and I now give it myself and inject very slowly and it's not too bad. I, too, have crushed the vial and ended up with cut fingers. I now wrap a tissue or gauze around the top before I snap it off.
Amy: hope the injections are going well. When's your first BT and/or US?
Alloy: Good luck with the laparoscopy (and waiting)
Me: BT on Sat morning. Triggered on Saturday night for IUI today at lunch-time. Dropped DH's contribution off this morning, heading back to the clinic shortly. Haven't done any work this am, have been too pre-occupied, will mean a very busy afternoon!!!
Not sure about this clotting issue. From my reading there is no consensus whether it's important for fertility, I worry that early aspirin might negatively affect implantation rather than help it, will hopefully get a chance to discuss it again with FS when she does the IUI today.

IUI#3 in progress.

Hi girls... sorry it's taken me so long to get back in here. I've been trying to log on since I got home but my computer was having a spaz attack and wouldn't let me.
Not good news from me unfortunately :( ... I've been pretty much out since Monday. I felt like something was going on up until Sunday. BB were really swollen and tender for days. Monday morning I started bleeding and bb went back to normal. Bleeding got heavier but I still went for BT today. I got so close I had to finish the cycle by going in for a preg BT because I haven't gotten that far in the past 2 tries. Nurse rang this afternoon and told me hcg had to be above 50 to be considered pregnant. Mine was at 10.2. She said it suggests something has happened this month, but is not happening now (as I had suspected) I've been emotional all week, hormones are a bit out of whack maybe... or maybe it's just because it's the end of another cycle! I was fine at work all day today until people would ask "Are you ok????" Only the boss knows what's going on so I just smiled and yes - as you do. Meanwhile, tears are rolling down my face as I'm heading in the opposite direction... I'm an emotional freak at the minute! Have to go back for another BT on Monday to check levels. Apparently everything goes on hold until that hcg level drops back to 0. We weren't planning to do a 4th oi-iui anyway... we'd had enough after 3. Not sure what this last go means for our next step. FS appt on Thurs 3rd July, hopefully we'll know our next pathway then. Hoping he'll move us onto ivf. But he may want to investigate through a laparoscopy before doing that, we're still unexplained infertility. who knows... we'll have to wait and see, I guess. :dunno:
Good luck to you girls in the TWW - Cherie, Megsmum and Swirl. Hoping you get your long-awaited BFPs! It would be so awesome to see some positive news come from our little team.
Amy, hope your injections are going well. Hopefully your visit tomorrow shows everything progressing according to schedule!
:wiggle: Hi Alloy. Hope you're cruising along and are well.
Take care girls. :grouphug:

-
Kaydee - I'm so very sorry  That's just horrible news. I really hope your FS appt goes well, and you can take that next step.
swirl - Glad to hear the IUI went well!
Cherie - How did your IUI go? OK I hope?
Hi Alloy and Amy, hope you are both going well :)
AFM, I still have this dratted cold! I've just been feeling absolutely shocking over the last few days with a blocked nose, sore throat and just general tiredness. Blah!!! Anyway, I'm off to the clinic shortly to have my prog levels checked, I'm now 6 days post IUI. Fingers crossed and still hoping this stupid cold has not affected our chances.

New to IUI
Hi everyone,
i am looking for information. We have been undergoing ovulation induction for just over 6 months with 4 back to back cycles and 4 BFN. I am taking a little break at the moment as it has taken its toll on my body and I feel i need to get fitter and stronger again before I start again. However our clinic has suggested we move onto IUI. I have no idea what it is and what is involved. Hoping someone can help so I can make the decision about what to do next.

Hey Saph
Just wanted to check in, so sorry things didnt work out for you this month big giant . IUI is really similar to OI mostly the same drugs although at insemination time they get DH to make his "deposit" in the morning then they get you to come in after they "wash" the sperm and inject it into you the procedure is almost identical to a pap smear. Please know i am here and if you need anything or info just PM me. Good luck

Hi Saph,
I'm so sorry to hear about your BFNs :(
We are doing our first IUI this month. TBH I haven't found it terribly invasive or much of an inconvenience in my life, but I should also mention that I am a SAHM. Don't know how it would go with work :( if you work.
I had a scan on CD10 and had one 20mm follie, triggered that night at 9pm and had the IUI 36 hours later. So I was lucky and didn't take long to get to trigger.
Basically on IUI day what we did was DH did his thing and I dropped it to the clinic at 8am (left my DD at home with DH) then went home so DH could go to work. I should point out that we only live a 10 min drive from our clinic too. Anyway I went back to the clinic at 9.30am after they had had time to prepare the sample and had the IUI. The whole process took about 3/4 of an hour, including a bit of time in the clinic waiting room, and I took my DD with me (she was not down the business end). We haven't told anyone in our families what we are having done, so unfortunately taking her with me is a bit of a necessity :( It was just like a Pap smear, and was just a little uncomfortable as a Pap smear is. But no big deal really.
I hope this helps and welcome to the thread :) All the best!

Hi girls, thanks so much for your support. Feeling much better today.
Amy, your cycle has progressed really quickly! Best of luck for your iui tomorrow.
Megsmum, there's nothing worse than feeling like crap with a cold and going through treatment. Take care and rest up (as much as you can with a little one on the loose at home!)
Saph, just a little more on the iui part. The reason why the swimmers need to go through the washing stage is because "only clean motile sperm enter the uterus after normal intercourse, as the mucus in the cervix acts as a filter. For artificial insemination into the uterus, the semen sample must therefore be cleaned, filtered and concentrated in the laboratory prior to use" (Dept of Reproductive Medicine, Westmead). From what I've read, success rates of oi-iui is at about 15%. Our clinic recommends at least 3 oi-iui's before moving onto the next step. Hope that helps.
Take care girls. I can smell the weekend... yee ha!

Kaydee: very sorry to hear about your BFN. I was so hoping that this was your cycle. Hope all goes well with the FS next week.
GL to everyone else still cycling.
Amy: hope the iui went well.

Hi Ladies,
Just had a call from the FS and I didn't ovulate again properly this month, she said that this month is "pretty much a write off" so I am not feeling the best :wall:
I hope everyone eles is doing well.
-
Oh Amy, I'm so sorry... this journey can be so frustrating.
I thought the "trigger' injection forced ovulation to happen??
To get to the point you are at this month and find out there's a hurdle must be so hard. Look after yourself. We're here if you need to talk/vent....
-
Hi Kaydee,
Thank you, yes I thought that was why we have the awful trigger injection but apparently my progesterone it too low which apparently indicates that I didn't ovulate properly again this month.
:wall::wall::wall: It is all so frustrating, but I have just called the FS and made a appointment for the 18th August to discuss moving on to IVF so I feel a little better now.
How did your bloods go on Monday? Not to long now until your FS appointment.
-
Hi Amy. Hope you're feeling better today. Bloods went ok this week. Levels are all back to zero which is what they were after. One week to go to FS appt. Looking forward to discussing what comes next and making a bit of a plan of attack. Made this appt back in April so when the Nurse told me the next appt was July, it seemed so far away! Time's flying by this year.
Who tests first this month? Is it you, Megsmum??
Girls, give me some BT dates so I can count down with you!!! Cause I'm sure you're not counting down at all!!! The tww drags.... and drags... Hope you're all going well.
-
Amy - that really sucks about your prog. How utterly frustrating!! I hope your FS appt goes well, I think sometimes it feels a bit better when you know you are being proactive and have a plan to deal with the latest problem.
Kaydee - Glad to hear your bloods were OK this week and that you are feeling a bit better. Good luck at the FS!
Hi to everyone else, Swirl, Cherie and Alloy!
AFM - Well I got even sicker after I last posted, temps of 39 degrees and to top it all off a sinus infection. How fantastic! NOT!!! Anyway I have pretty much now recovered, almost finished the antibiotics and am feeling better (just have a bit of a lingering cough) and due to BT tomorrow. But unfortunately have had some light bleeding this morning, so I am pretty sure we are out this month :( I don't think I'll bother with the BT tomorrow - too much hassle with dragging DD along to the clinic only to find out what I already know. Oh well, at least my short LP seems to have sorted itself out this cycle, I've gone from 9 days on a natural cycle, 10 days on a natural cycle + progesterone pessaries and now 12 days on a Clomid cycle + pessaries. So at least that's one piece of good news from this cycle and now it seems to be sorted, hopefully we will have some luck soon.
Anyway I had better run, I have to take DD to the dr to have her 4 year old injections. How much fun is that going to be??!! Poor little love, she's going to hate it - I've had to promise her a little chocolate and a new Thomas engine LOL
-
Megsmum: sorry to hear you have been so unwell and that things not looking hopeful for this cycle. Will you do another clomid cycle if this one is BFN?
Amy: sorry to hear you didn't ovulate? Are you going to try a higher dose of clomid of FSH next cycle?
Kaydee: my bt was due on 3/7 (16DPO) but i have asked the FN to bring it forward to 1/7 if AF hasn't shown by them. Usually have 11-13 day LP so would be promising if no AF by Mon morning. I will probably crack and do HPT on weekend, especially if feeling pre-AF, that way wont need to go in for BT.
GL to everyone still cycling - we desperately need some good news in here,
S
