DP and i have been looking at other methods to help us conceive
He's been encouraging me to have weekly massages and to try accupuncture (He's been googling stuff everynight haha) so I decided to stop off at our local acupuncturist and see what they can do. After talking with the lady there and telling her what I'm there for, she say's I might be cold inside (one of our long time family friends did mention this to me years ago out of general chit chat) she also rubbed her belly and said to me 'You need to exercise and lose a bit of weight too' well DUH!! i know that already, but she has a point and the past few weeks my diet and exercise has been non existant!
So, the lady recommended I have weekly sessions of accupuncture and massage at a total cost of $85 which saves me about $40 a week she also says weekly massage will assist with weight loss - if that's the case, i might have to take up residence there!!
I had a bit of trouble with TTC #2 and decided to see an Chinese Doctor at the 9 month mark. I felt the treatment really helped get my body working properly again - just generally - although I had not even noticed it wasn't IYKWIM.
I fell pg in the first cycle while having the acupuncture!! So apart from feeling on top of the world, I was on top of the world! I continued to get weekly treatment through my first trimester and am about to go back for some Labour prep treatment too.
Hope things fall into place for you too.

Naenae - Sounds great! I did acupuncture for a little while too and he said the same thing about being cold inside & to eat 'warm' foods - like soups, caseroles rather than salad etc....
Kel - how did you go today?? and I know what you mean about the weight loss and working full time. DD is 8 and by the time we come home, do homework get lunches ready and so on, its late, and I couldnt be bothered taking time out for myself!!
Jackrose - That is so awesome to hear! Fingers crossed for us and kel too!
Rhichichi - I read last night about eating warm foods and with winter coming up that wont be too hard!
Next week will be our DTD week so im thinking of maybe doing accupuncture twice? Do you gals think it might help? I'll ask anyway.
hi ladies, i too have done acupuncture, but only once i need to go and have another one soon !!. so does anyone know for how long to do acupuncture for?
thanx helen
Hi naenae! Just new to these posts! I've also been trying acupuncture to help ttc & pcos. I was told I was cold inside too, been trying to drink wRm water thru the day too.. No luck yet, but fingers still crossed!!
I go to a student clinic; and the young girl tried 'moxa' on me, which is an interesting experience!! But tummy felt warmer afterwards, and I slept well!!
Good luck with the acupuncture, hope it all goes well
Ps where do they place your needles?! If u don't mind me asking!
Well, today was my first session of accupuncture ... weirdest feeling I've ever felt. He put a needle near my ankle, one on the inside of my calf near my knee on both legs, about 5 in my tummy, 2 in my left thumb, and one in my finger next to my pinky on the right hand.
The only ones that I could feel were the ones in my fingers, and when he pulled out on my right hand side of my tummy near my ovary. I asked why, and they said it was the increase of circulation.
But I'll tell you something - After around 5 mins of the needles being in, i felt pulsating inside near my left ovary for a few minutes, then my right foot went numb and tingly and heavy, then the right ovary area started pulsating for a few mins, then my right foot went numb tingly and heavy again, then i felt pulsing in the middle (I guess where my cervix/uterus is) then my right foot went numb, tingly and heavy again - weirdest, but nice feeling.
When he was pulling the needles out OH THE TINGLES!! Then he started massaging me which was nice, but i started giggling because he tickled my leg!!
I think it might take me a few sessions to get used to ... but fingers crossed!
Sounds good naenae! I agree a very weird experience, especially when the needle goes in and hits the "spot" lol!! I have the needles in similar spots, feet, ankle, legs & tummy. Haven't had any in the fingers it thumbs, but have had a needle in each wrist and one between my eyebrows (third eye area)! I notice when I'm upset I get a bigger reaction of tingles etc!
Fingers crossed for you Naenae, hope it gets everything moving!!
When I was having accupuncture done last night, it gave me a chance to sit back and think about what is going to happen in the next few months. DP and I have given ourselves til September to get a BFP, and after that it will be off to a fertility clinic. I was laying there thinking about how invasive ivf/iui is going to be, and the fear of the unknown. not much frightens me, but ivf/iui does ...
I guess I'm putting a bit of pressure on myself and I guess DP is too, cos I dont want to have kids after I'm 30 (personal choice dont want to offend anyone) and I'd like to have 2 kids by then ... so fingers crossed!
hi , ladies i too had acupuncture last week and she put the needles simular places but not on the tummy and i did ask and she said they dont put the needles in the same areas, well this is my second time, the first one i had done i did have them in the tummy, but i didnt feel a thing, this time i had it near my thumbs and she took my pulse !! and the other two above the rists, well i felt that one, i couldnt move my hands !!
The ladies where saying it should be an on going treatment though, but for how long i dont know???? any way at least we are trying everything can and aswell, anyone taking menstrocare, how have your experences been with getting ur af's?? I have been on them since jan and i slightly got something in feb and at the beggining on this month, but again it started off as light and i dhould be finished by now, but a little heavier and my back KILLS like anything and on top of that i have the flu !!!! i will have to wait till next month and see if they arrive again or maybe we could be lucky good luck to everyone
Tweety: Ive got no idea how long to do it for, I've booked in for weekly appt up until the student clinic finishes in June. The teacher there mentioned it would take several months for my body to start fixing itself! Anyway I try to think about it as relaxation, however, sometimes I wonder when they hit a bad spot!!
Know what you mean about the wrist needles... Arghhh!!! I found putting my arms over my head let my wrists relax a little more.. If that makes sense! I noticed last night when they did the moxa, my tummy seem to warm up a lot quicker than it had in previous weeks.. So maybe I'm warming up in there!!
I haven't had AF for several months, was really hoping that acu would help.. Keep hoping!! I haven't tried the pill you're on.. Maybe I should try it out?!
Well i have been on them since jan and the lady said that it takes some ladies 2 to 3 months to get a af, and i saw mine in feb it was just spotting but it was there and now at the end of march !!! i am happy that its working ,it has a lot of different types of herbs in it and i think each one plays a diff role and i have searched each and everyone , just to make sure, but i havent experienced anything bad from it, just the oppisite, and i just went to a health shop and i told her my symptoms, so just inquire about them or search on the web, i know i have millions of times, oh and ladies i have read they have done studies on acp that it could cure PCOS whooooooo hoooooo, if anyone wants to email elenifillou@hotmail.com me for the info please feel free :
cheers helen and believe that it WILL happen !!!!

Well, it's almost time to dtd, and i've been taking my supp's in the morning as usual, but this time i decided to take EPO and today is my first time i've actually got LOTS of CM the previous gyno said CM wasnt that important, but after speaking with my naturopath, clearly it is and makes sense why.
I'm now on menstrocare too, this is my 2nd cycle. It has changed my period slighly, well on day 28 (this cycle) i spotted very lightly, and then day 29 was the full flow. the naturopath said to take it from the first day of the full flow, not the spotting day, He also said my period should be 29 days because a pill cycle is 28. 28/29 days, i dont care as long as it is regular!! Other than that, the menstrocare really hasnt changed anything.
Im starting to wonder if CM was/is our issue? I normally dont get CM, i do occasionaly, but not every cycle .. time will tell!
Thank you for the information ( menstrocare) about spotting and when it really counts , becasue i had spotting on 2/4 and then after a week, i actually had a flow yupppyyyy !!!!!
so now i have to wait and see when abouts i ov, i have invested in the maybe baby ov tester and i have been doing it just to get the hang of it .
Oh, when you get your af's do you stop taking the tabs or do you still continue to take them?
Thanx helen
I take menstrocare even through af I seem to be suffering with a constant lower back ache in the first 2 weeks which is annoying
We're in the 2ww now, last month of o'd on day 14, but this month I o'd on day 12, so it is a good idea (well for us it is anyway) to keep up those OPK's
Do you take any other supps? How are you finding the menstrocare? how many cycles have you taken the supps for?
Naenae.. How u feeling? Hope af isn't showing any symptoms and u get a bfp!!!
Tweety.. How u feeling? Great news about af starting so quickly after menstrocare. I might have to take myself off to a naturopath.
Afm not much news.. No af still. Finally got my letter from the hospital re appt for help. Had to ring the bug boss at work tonight.. Had to spill the beans that we were trying & having troubles and need to see docs.. And is that ok to take time off work etc. She was lovely about it and now have to fess up to my manager tomorrow. I hate that something so personal has to be spoken about with ppl you normally wouldn't. Drives me crazy that I need help & I can't just rock up and smile excitedly and yell I'm pregnant!!!!!
Ahh enuf if feeling sorry for myself! Went to a gyno not long ago who was rude and told me to lose weight & come back in 6 mths. When I asked about clomid he told me that there is 10% chance twins, which I said was cool.. But he's like NO! More complications blah blah blah so negative about it all. Almost feel like it's discrimination, cos I need help that a doctor can make comment & judgements on my weight, and virtually refuse treatment; however if I managed to become utd naturally they just have to deal with it. Hmph.. Sorry!! Just needed to get it out!
I'm on vitex, prenatal vitamins, royal jelly caps & propolis.. Tried licorice root for 7 days as that's supposed to help too.. I feel like a druggo sometimes!! Lol
