this is the first time I have done this so really I have no idea??
I have had a baby who is now 9.5 months old with the help of IVF. I am breastfeeding still and since having her we have tried IVF once, with my last egg and also IUI after that. NO luck. We really want another baby but I cant seem to fall pregnant.
It is affecting me in every way possible. No one knows we did IVF and I need to talk to some others that are in the same boat.
I dont want to stop breastfeeding until she is over 1 years old and to do IVF again I need to completely stop as drugs will go through milk.
My hubby is healthy and I am not sure if I cant concieve on my own or what the problem is? I really dont know??
I think your passion to continue breastfeeding is inspiring and want to give you all the encouragement in the world to stick with it.
My (naturally conceived) DD was breastfed until she was a bit over 2yo and I am so proud of her and myself for having that wonderful start to life. She is a healthy, bright and inquisitive 4yo now and I like to attribute some of that to breastfeeding! We now find ourselves TTC#2 and after 2 years of trying (last 12 months on fertility trt), we are now on the IVF journey. I never thought that this would be us! DD was conceived after just 5 months of trying and we never suspected we would have any trouble however, as the months pass I hold firm to the thought that each month is one month closer to a pregnancy and I cherish the time that I have to spend with DD, being constantly amazed as I watch her grow and learn.
I'm not sure if I have any answers for you but if you're passionate about continuing both fertility trt and breastfeeding (I think I would be if I were in your shoes), find someone who can help you do it. Talk to your FS about what you can and can't do, sounds like you can continue to try IUI? Is that an option that you feel positive about? Which particular drugs are a no-no for BF eg. can you express to feed for the first half of collection cycle and then go back to b'feeding after EPU? Can you express enough in advance to feed your bub for the whole EPU cycle (scary thought I know!)? I am constantly amazed by the stories of what people can achieve when they are passionate about making-it-happen and I wish you all the best in your decisions. Where there is a will there is a way ... just keep asking questions.
I am soooooo happy to announce I am 5 weeks pregnant. I still continued to Breastfeed and pop did a home pregnancy test on Tuesday and Tuesday afternoon I had a blood test that confirmed that I am pregnant. i am soo happy and even more as it happened naturally and I thought it would never happen. I am just counting down the weeks until the ultrasound so I can see all is OK!! I am a worry wort. Knock on wood I hope time passes quickly.
I am still BF my 13 month old but considering weaning slowly but will see how I go. Dont know how to wean correctly but I will try.
Due 3rd October 2009.
Thanks for the support
And Miracles do happen FINGERS CROSSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You don't have to wean if you don't want to. Bfing though pg, and even beyond, is fine. If you do want to wean, just drop one feed at a time - every few days or every few weeks depending on the time frame you are looking at. Your supply will reduce during pg anyway, so your baby might self-wean.
Thank you sooo much. I have heard an old wives tale that BF may cause miscariage is that true??? I am worried?
It is soooo different now with a baby and being pregnant. As my daughter is very dependent on me still and I need to lift her time and time again. She is also teething so this doesnt help.
If I dont wean I am worried what will happen when I go into hospital to have the baby. The day she should be ok it is just the night time as she still wakes up for a feed. I am thinking of going to hospital for one night then coming home???
