    Fertilisation / conception??

    So what is the difference or are they the same?

    i'd say they're the same! fertilisation would just be the technical term used in labs...

    I do think fertilisation equals conception I guess you could argue that conception could instead be when the egg first starts to divide instead of when the sperm penetrates the egg, but we're not talking a very long time between one and the other!

    sushee, that sounds right. I was thinking that a woman can conceive a child but can't fertilise an egg, so they are not exactly the same thing. fertilisation is the sperm doing its thing to the egg and that results in a conception.

    Isn't conception the time in which the two people BD as in 'date of conception' and the fertilisation part is the actual sperm penetrating the egg and 'making' the baby? crumbs never really thought about it before!
