Who had success on their first IVF cycle?

I've been wondering, since being told that we will have around a 45-50% chance of a pregnancy with ICSI, what the rates are for success on the first IVF cycle.... So how many cycles did it take you?

    Hi Sarah

DH and i have been TTC for about 2.5 years. Started with Chlomid, than went on to Ovulation induction with Gonalf and and pregnyl. We just did our first IVF cycle and got a positive. Confirmed yesterday with BT. 4th weeks this week.

So yes it can happen. I was just diagnosed with unexplained infertility. I follow a healthy diet, exercise on regular basis and that is it, made no other adjustments.

    Wishing you all the best.

Sarah you know my history so I won't scare you with telling you my story again but I do know that humphrey, Melbo and Carrie all fell pg on their first cycles. I know there are others, but I can think of them right now!

    Hi Sarah,

My first cycle was cancelled before they went 'fishing' for eggs - yup all the needles and then found out I needed surgery...no fun.
So cycle number 2 - which was a full cycle, no luck with the fresh eggs, but the following month, fell pregnant with my frozen transfer.
A pretty good result for someone my ripe old age...
So as the saying goes...you never never know if you....

    best best best of luck!!!

Me too! I got pregnant on my first IVF cycle. Had a miscarriage at 10 weeks but the IVF was very successful. Hope you can join the first time successes Sarah.

It wasn't our first cycle... there was no transfer with our first cycle. but our first transfer appears to have worked!

Sarah, I did find some numbers for you...

For a woman under 35, one day 3 embryo has a 22% chance of resulting in a live baby. One day 5 blastocyst has a 42% chance of resulting in a live baby.

Those figures were from SIVF from 1998 and 2001. I have no idea what the stats are currently, but I guess it does give you some idea of the numbers game.

Pretty much, Sarah! It hasn't fully sunk in yet - and I need another blood test bright and early tomorrow morning to check that things are progressing as they should, but yep!

Hi Sarah, Dh and I had been ttc for 6 years prior to IVF ICSI. We were pregnant on the first cycle! After the birth of DD#1 DH and I never used contraception and never got pregnant (we only have 2% chance of conceiving naturally according to the FS). So we went to ICSI again, and again have been lucky first go!
I wish you all the best of luck with your cycle!

    Hi Sarah,
I fell pg on 1st IVF cycle. After TTC#2 for 2 years, I was diagnosed with unexplained fertility. We didn't try any other form fertility treatments. My FS reckons that IVF is the best option for us, and it worked! My first child was conceived naturally. She's now 6 years old. I'm now 34 weeks pg and due next month.

Goodluck with your journey and wishing you all the best.

    Me too!!

I'm pretty sure you know my story. Our DD was concieved naturally within the first month, fell prg again 12 months later, again no complications (we did lose that baby though sadly) - diagnosed with a hideous cyst on my ovary and long and painful 12 months and x2 surgeries later decided IVF was our best option.

We had a day 2 transfer and am now 27 weeks prg!

Never thought I'd be so lucky but we were - I wish you the same luck Sarah!

    Hey Sarah

My Son Callum was IVF. First time fell with him and also the other egg that was transfered took but was on the overy. It grew then died. So really 2 bubs took first cycle and then the next ET didnt take but the one after that did but ended up ectopic. So really in the one cycle I had 3 pgs. Good luck hun!!
