thread: zero sperm, but we found some with biopsy

Kristine - Sounds like you have a plan and everything is chugging along nicely. Great stuff!

Amy - for early next week! Looking forward to good news.

I'm feeling ok! I think it's nearing O time, and I still feel a bit of loss associated with it. When I feel those cramps, it's another reminder.. BUT I'm trying not to let it get me down. DH has started joking about things and being a bit more relaxed about it all. I'm concentrating on renovating and painting the kitchen etc. We're looking to the future rather than sulking in the now.

    Hi,

Wondering if I can join this thread (again)?

I posted earlier on in the thread about DH having no sperm and having to have a biopsy done.

I had EPU done on the 10th of this month (we got 19 eggs) and then after my procedure DH had his biopsy. Unfortunately they found no sperm. We have another appointment with the FS on Tuesday to see what went wrong. On a previous SA they found 4 sperm, so I am guessing DH must produce some. Luckily for us, they successfully froze 18 of my eggs for future use.

Just wondering has anyone heard anything like this happening before?

    I hope everyone's DH's have successful biopsies!

Hi puffsgirl11, I am so sorry your DH's biopsy wasn't succesfull. I really don't know what to say and don't understand at all why they wouldn't find any sperm in the biopsy, if there actually was some sperm in the SA. As you said that means he must produce some.
What sort of biopsy did he have done? I think there are different ones. Did they do a needle one or an open biopsy?
I really hope you get some answers from your FS this week.
    Big hug!!!!!

    Kristine,

    Thanks for your kind words!
DH had an open biopsy. They were only willing to do that as they only found a very small amount of sperm in the SA.

Hi all, how is everyone going?

Amy - I think I read somewhere you have your egg harvest today and DH's sperm aspiration - have all my fingers crossed for you!
Puffsgirl - I hope you got some answers from your FS and that they had some good answers!
Frugal - hope you are well.

afm - we got some genetic blood tests back and they are all fine so far. I am so nervous about the biopsy next week, the wait is just terrible. One day I am feeling all hopeful and then the next day I am doubting it all. I just want to know!!!

    Hi girls,

Just a quick update, we are staying at my mum and dad's tonight. The nurses wouldnt let us go home without having someone else staying with us. I must admit, its nice having mum make me cups of tea and warm up my heat pack

Well we have some wonderful news! They found quite a bit of sperm in DH They said we have enough sperm to fertilise our eggs and enough to freeze for another 2 cycles. They couldnt find anything with the aspiration so they ended up having to do the biopsy. DH is in a lot of pain and very swollen.

I was a bit disappointed with my results. On the Ultrasound it showed that I had 5 eggs on each ovary but they only managed to get 7 out of me total.

I have to give them a call tomorrow at 2pm to see how our little embies are going.

    Aim xxx

Amy - Your news makes me grin and gives me lots of hope!

Kristine - I read your post to DH who said "Oooh, that sounds like you!" I understand. Waiting is horrible! I'm crossing everything for your DH next week.

I've got 2 weeks to wait until the next appointment.. I don't exactly know what happens after that.. the FS goes on holiday the day after.. so nothing, I imagine, for at least a month. *sigh* Looking forward to December-ish.. but it's nervously.

I am so relieved, DH had his biopsy today and they found heaps of sperm!!!!! They went with a needle into his epididymus and found lots of sperm there. So they froze them for IVF/ICSI. He definitely has a blockage, the doctor actually said that the sperm is really healthy and mobile. They just don't come out DH is feeling not too bad and very happy with himself. The needle biopsy wasn't too bad. He was in and out in about 15min.
I am so having all my fingers crossed that your DHs also will have a succesfull biopsy. Don't give up hope!

Thanks Amy! I am sorry to hear your DH is still in pain. Yes I agree, we were very lucky, the needle biopsy is far less complicated and painful. DH is only a little sore today. We probably start IVF in mid October or so. I want to start at a time where I don't have to travel for work, as I think that will make things more difficult. Now that we have sperm frozen, I am far more relaxed and don't mind if we wait a few months before we start IVF. I can't believe that it went so quickly from my DH's diagnosis to the biopsy and having sperm frozen. It did feel like forever, but in reality it only was 4 weeks.
I have my fingers crossed for you that this will be a successful cycle for you!!!
Frugal, Bel how are you? I hope you are doing ok. Thinking of you guys!

Hi everyone. I know this is an old thread! But have been browsing through it as it relates closely to what we've gone through with DH. I was just wondering if any of you had positive results after using ICSI?
