    Unhappy zoladex

I have been ttc for a year and a half, gone through all fertility testing, hormones came out well, had lap in september and resulted in mild endometriosis. am on zoladex now. having side effects which makes it more difficult to cope emotionally... got friends who got pregnant recently, and it makes it feel worse altough i'm happy for them. i will finish zoladex treatment by end of february... anybody on zoladex? anybody been through the same treatment and now pregnant? i'm at a loss!

sorry to hear you've been having trouble TTC.... I too have been trying for 2 years. It's really hard when people around you get pregnant. I have not been on zoladex (I don't even know what it is!), but I think the emotional highs and lows go up and down for all of us.

good luck - I have found this site great for support. I hope you do too. best of luck

Pixie - Zoladex can have some side effects related to anxiety/depression add that to the challenges of LTTC then it may be worth checking in with your GP to see that you have appropriate support etc. xxx

    Hi ineedpixiedust,

Hope you find this site as useful as I have.

I have a similar history yourself.

TTC 18mths +, severe endo, PCOS, one blocked fallopian tube, lap and D&C in Sept 11, started Zoladex in Oct/Nov. Had my last injection of the zoladex last week and am starting ICSI this month. Have nurse appointment on Thursday.

Zoladex is pretty awful from my experience. The side effects I have experienced include, headaches, hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings (very emotional and easily tearful), joint pain (particulalry in my knees and ankles - constantly feel like I have run a marathon) and I think I have put on a little weight too.

On the upside, my period ceased as did the associated pain. I'm also hopeful that it will have been successful at keeping the endo away and increase my chance of success with IVF.

Sadly I dont know whether this protocol will work. But I am trying to remain hopeful. If I can support you in anyway through this journey then let me know, sounds like we might be having similar treatments.

    Wishinging you lots of babydust.

oh... and i've been getting heart palpitations too. I've been wondering if they are small panic attacks. But don't seem to be triggered by anything happening at the time. So Ive put it down to the meds. When it occurs I just try to remind myself that it is just the meds and that it will pass.

    dear myturn,
It is great to find moral support here! helps me to vent and reminds me i am not all alone having prob ttc in this world! zoladex is a hormonal treatment that puts you on menopause for 6 months... it's side effects are just awful... apart from the emotional part, i have joint pains, hot flushes, headaches and weightgain amongst others. r u having any treatments or tests done?
i wish you luck ttc!!! hope we get there together this is a great site!

dear jane, i am relieved to hear it from you too! before i was prescribed zoladex i didn't have painful periods... and after lap, doc said i have slight endo... i wonder why he put me on zoladex??? i have the same side effects too... my last one is in february... i guess my gynae gave me a longer course. for now, i am not opting for IVF.. the gynae hasn't even mentioned it for me... i guess i have to give it a try the natural way for a few months after zol effect wears off. thanks for your support! it's a good site after all )
keep me posted! wish you luck and baby dust too x x x

Ineedpixiedust, You must be counting down the weeks til you are over and done with the zoldex. I know I have been.

Sucks that you have been having lots of side effects. In a weird way it is really reassuring to hear that I am not the only only experiencing these dreaded side effects. Not sure why your FS suggested zoladex partic if only mild endo found but I really hope it helps with you falling naturally in a few months. Keep me posted.

I would have liked to fall naturally but FS has said it is not really possible or highly unlikely given that we have mulitple fertility issues including male fertility issues.
Anyways, will let you know how I get on.

    Best of luck.

I'm doing my second IVF cycle this month - I've been on the Pill this time, and just started nasal spray - no side effects so far, although I've been pretty lucky I think and haven't had many side effects on any of the meds I have been on. You'll see my updates on some of the LTTTC threads - you should join us in there.

Good luck!! I hope you get a BFP naturally though!!

Hi, I can relate to what your going through. I have been TTC for over 18 months now and have just been diagnosed with severe endo. We waited 12 months before seeking help as my husband had a vesectomy reversal previously so we thought that's what our problem was. I had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy a couple of weeks back and just started on Zoladex last week. The side effects haven't kicked in for me yet but no doubt they will... I have to have more surgery coming up to remove the endo as well as partial bowel removal followed by IVF so i'm in for a long journey. I understand how hard it is when people fall pregnant around you - it is very hard to handle although you know you should be happy for them.

I've read some good stories on here about others who have had successful pregnancies which helps stay positive.

    I wish you luck
