    nurses in NSW public health

    hi

just wondering what the maternity leave is like for nurses here in NSW in public hospitals? we are thinking of having another baby and our DS was born in SA so not sure what i would be entitled to here. i know i need to be here at least 12 months before i am entitled to it (as per any job i guess). i am also wondering if i decided not to return to work after the LO was born, do i need to pay all that leave back? DH is in the RAAF and has been told we may be moving next year (after just relocating to here :brickwall: ) so i dont want to get pregnant or have a baby then leave itms.

    TIA xx

I am a midwife/RN and work for NSW health. We are entitled to 14weeks paid leave or 28weeks at half pay. I am sure you don't have to return within 12months I think you can take 2yrs of by memory. I only had to work for 42weeks to be entitled to maternity leave not 52weeks so I could have fallen pregnant within the first few months and potentially still be entitled to maternity leave. If you decide not to return after you have had your baby you will not need to pay it back.
