Question Antibiotics at 5 weeks - is it really ok??

Hi, I guess i am just looking for a little reassurance. I have the worlds worst throat and flu which was fine until the earaches in both ears began. Yesterday i saw the doctor and its gone to my middle ear and i have never felt pain like it. He advised me to get straight onto Keflex (catagory A - safe in pregnancy) to get rid of it as its just getting worse. So, even though i said i would never take a thing, i started on them yesterday and it does feel a little better this morning. It took me years to get to this point and i just need someone to tell me i'm doing the right thing ..... thanks

I've had to have two courses of antibiotics during this pregnancy, and it is safe. It's actually safer to take the antibiotics than to leave an infection, as that can be devastating to your bub It's still scary I know, I worry about taking panadol, but it is safe

Keflex is safe to take in pregnancy. In fact I would recommend that you do take it. Not only can an infection cause you lots of pain and distress but it could also be a danger to your baby. The only potential downside is that there is a chance that the antibiotic could result in you getting thrush so it would be a good idea to take some probiotics to help prevent this.

    Inner health plus...

Thanks so much for your reply. I have been taking inner health plus for several months now and finished the last bottle just before my pregnancy was confirmed. Would it be good for me to continue to take this during my pregnancy? thanks
