I suffered from Hyperemisis during my pregnancy and it is the one thing the I worry about if we have another baby. It concerns me that I am going to be as sick as last time and how that is going to effect my son if I am out of action and can't spend the time with him that he deserves. Has anyone suffered this and gone back for number two?? Did you have the same problem, was it as bad,how did you cop, how did it effect your child?
I think with this, you just have to try and see how you go. Everyone is different and every pregnancy is different.
I had hyperemisis, it was so bad i couldnt get out of bed and i had days where i vomitted every hour.
That was the only pregnancy i suffered hyperemisis badly with. My next pregnancy i had moderate morning sickness and as ive continued along, my morning sickness has gotten less and less each pregnancy. I now have 6 children.
One thing i found that helped me was taking my vitamins. I take the Blackmores Pregnancy and Breastfeeding formula. I start taking it a few months before we start ttc and continue to take it. If i didnt take it for a few days i found my morning sickness got worse.
Well I've got 2 kids and one on the way this pg I suffered with HG for nearly 4mnths couldn't get out of bed low blood pressure all the joys...NOT! It was the most horrible experience.
But with my 1st pg I had what I would call average M/S for a couple of months but could still function, and with my 2nd pg none at all!
So like Kristie said everyones different as with all pregnancies, but I completely understand why you're scared!
I had it in my first pg. i was in hospital 5 times and still vomiting the day i gave birth. it has taken me 2 years to even think about trying to have another one. just found out i am pg and at this stage am very excited as no ms yet. although im only early - 5w - i will keep you posted.
Hi Misty1, Firstly congratulations!! I hope that things go better for you this time around. I will be interested to hear how you are feeling as your pregnancy progresses. Take good care of yourself.
I've had it both pregnancies, and it was different both times. #2 was more full on... I was on more drips and at hospital more often. BUT it did calm down for the last 6ish week which was a absolute god send.
With #1, it wasn't quite as severe, but it didn't calm down until after giving birth. AT least with #2, in the last 6 weeks there were days where I wasn't sick ALL day.
I had HG with 3 pregnancies (one I m/c at 10 weeks & the sickness stopped that very day)
With the first pregnancy & DD I was constantly vomitting, the worst it got was every 2 minutes, yes we times it... I thought I was going to die & was vomitting blood as there was nothing in my belly left to vomit
The only thing that helps mine is zofran zydis.... it was fantastic! Once it kicked in (within about a day) I could live normally. I did try to come off it throughout each pregnancy but would start vomitting again so straight back onto it. I took it from 6 weeks until the night I gave birth (DD 41+1 weeks, DS 39+2 weeks)
The downside to it is the cost. It costs around $60 for 4 wafers/tablets & you have to take a minimum of one a day (3 a day at the start if its really bad) so it makes for a very expensive pregnancy BUT if you can afford it then its sooooooo worth it, at least it was in my case.
There is no guarantee that you will have it the next pregnancy, fingers crossed that you wont. It's a terrible condition that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.
I had HG with my first 2 pregnancies. I've actually been pregnant 5 times & had HG 3 of those times. With my girls I was severely sick for about 5 months then it started to ease.
With DS I was just sick like normal ms. It was so much easier!! No hospital stays, vomitting 20 or so times a day down to maybe 2!
With me I'm pretty sure it is the sex of my babies that has the effect. Girls give me HG, boys don't!
