morning sickness and that horrible taste in your mouth!

I am now 7 weeks pregnant. For 2 weeks I have suffered from morning sickness! I am starting to get really down about constantly feeling so sick and having this absolutely horrible taste in my mouth that I cannot get rid of! Sweet foods tend to make things worse but I have tried everything from mints, gum, ginger, ginger ale, ginger beer, lemon, vinegar, ice, cold drink, toothpaste, powerade etc. Apart from the horrible taste I have also developed aversions for almost everything! I can't stand to look at water or most foods! It has only been 2 weeks, how on earth will I cope? Does anyone have any tips ideas? I am desperate!! P.s I,m sorry if this sounds so self centred! I am just struggling right now. . .

Sorry to hear you're not doing so well! I had morning sickness right til the middle of my eighth month! Hope this is not the case for you!

I used the sea bands you wear on your wrists - available from the pharmacy which helped a little bit. They have a button that sits on the pressure points on your wrists. I also couldn't stand the taste of water and had to drink it really cold. I drank A LOT of fruit juice (just avoid the acidic ones in case it comes back up!). I know you said you tried ginger but have you tried Ginger Bears? A friend recommended them to me (available in the lollies aisle of Coles etc) and even though I HATE the taste of ginger these actually helped.

Good luck! I hope you feel better soon. Try not to get too down. Lots of people told me that if you have strong 'morning' sickness your baby has well and truly got a hold of you and isn't going anywhere!! Don't know if this is true but I held onto this thought!

Thanks for your reply. I think this would have to be the absolute worst side effect of pregnancy!
I can even handle the morning sickness part, the bad taste in the mouth is killing me!!! I'm also having to work through this whole time, without the people I work with knowing I'm pregnant (apart from my manager, who has been great, but thinks it's funny, as she has had 4 kids and has "been there and done that"). It's nice to know that I'm not alone and I am absolutely hanging in there for the 12 to 13 week mark, to see if things hopefully improve...., I hope that it goes away after that! Fingers Crossed!!!

    Did i mention fruit tingles?

I got that disgusting taste in my mouth too BLERK fruit tingles helped to clear my palate, and is greta for heart burn if you get that? What about lemonade, I found that to be sooooooooooooooo good! Even salvital, helped sooth the morning sickness and rehydrate me, and the fizziness cleared the gross taste away.

I found constantly eating bland foods, like toast, crackers or even fruit helped. I know EXACTLY what you're going through. I didn't tell anyone at work until 14 weeks, and it was such a struggle just to turn up.

The bright side is, I found the bad taste went away pretty quickly, once I found something I could stomache. I also hated the taste of water and just drank orange cordial. Once you discover the things that are ok, just constantly have a supply of it in your bag/desk drawer/car etc. Don't give up! And don't think it will be the same until 14 weeks. Morning sickness kind of changes as the pregnancy progresses. I remember thinking "How the hell am I going to cope with 7 more weeks of this??"...but it wasn't all the same feeling. You kind of manage it as you go (and become an expert at stopping yourself from spewing!).

One day you'll wake up and feel perfectly fine - I hope in your case it happens quickly (and not the day the baby is born LOL).

i suffered from morning sickness mr first tri-mester and the only thing to stop the chucking and foul taste was to drink a hot sweet cup of tea before i even got out of bed, i literally just half sat up in bed and drank it then was able to get up and eat breakky. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy :-)
