    carpal tunnel syndrome

I think i am developing carpal tunnel syndrome. i am 26 weeks pregnant but have had tingles and weakness for a couple of weeks. My mum had it and eventually had surgery on both hands, but i'm hoping mine will dissappear after bub is born.

Has anyone tried icing or using heat on the wrists? I am thinking if there is swelling, using ice is probably the first step to try.

Is it worth seeing a dr specifically for this, on is there not much they can do? I have appts at the hospital with physician and midwife next week already booked in.

it should go away after you have bub.
ice or heat never worked for me, but i was lucky enough to be able to take meds coz i want preg at the time (mobic- an anti inflamentry) i slept with a splint every night (i had it really bad on one side.. too much video games hehe) and during the day if it was bad id wear it then too...
id mention it to your MW coz they might be able to tell you a good way to make it feel better

There really isn't much you can do about it. I had it with my 3rd pg and it was gone by the time she was about 3wks old. I found strapping it at night and keeping it elevated helped a lot.

I had it terribly with DS2 and nothing I did helped, it even stayed around for a few months after he was born, so when I started to get it when I was pregnant with DD2 I decided I would try anything and everything.
I heard great things about acupuncture for CT and tried it. It worked wonders and after just one session I never had it return again.
I highly recommend acupuntcure to anyone with CT. I hope you get some relief soon.

I am 37 wks preg, and I started to get carpel tunnel in my hands early into the 3rd trim. I couldn't even butter bread and kept having dreams that my hands were on fire. Anyway my doc told me to use a splint at night, and wadda ya know, no more carpel tunnel. Not even a hint. And it was so bad that I was taking mersyndol for it. So I highly recommend a splint at night. One that prevents your wrist from moving. It will feel really tight to begin with but you get used to it.
