Great to hear it went well Helen - like you said, at least you know now that you have done everything you can to try and help this pg.
I was sick after the GA too but I'm not sure if it was the GA or the morphine that set me off as I had had a GA with my D&C in May and was fine. At least it doesn't last long hey?!
Did you get told anything about swimming and bathing by any chance (as in, being allowed or not)?
I too was given no antibiotics after & have had no swabs and all has been fine.
    Good luck at your checkup

He didn't say anything about swimming or baths, but I had asked my GP, when we confirmed the preg and she just said it is a very low risk, but still a risk so just avoid it, so I am! Maybe you are right it could have been the morphine, as I have had GA before and never had a problem.

Vicki, I am so sorry you have to find us here, and to have suffered two lost babies is undescribable. How far are you with this pregnancy? I had the stitch put in at 13+wks and don't regret it for an instant. We were not sure whether the infection caused our baby's early arrival or if I had IC. I am happy to say I will be 37 wks tomorrow, and have not had any significant shortening this pregnancy. You need to make sure you have Drs/OBs that take you VERY seriously and monitor you closely. I had monthly US to check on the stitch but they would have been weekly/fortnightly if I had chosen not too, at least in the danger period.
Good luck I really hope this little one makes it safely into your arms.

    Hi Vickie

I am so sorry to read of your losses; how truly heartbreaking to have to lose 2 children.
I just wanted to let you know that the cervical stitch was the best thing I did and you can see in my signature that I am a success story

If you read this thread from the beginning, my story ended at about 19 weeks with my previous post, so to complete the story my u/s at 21 weeks showed my cervix had shortened quite dramatically so I was put in hospital on bedrest for 3 weeks and then had to rest at home. I had regular u/s up until 28 weeks which showed everything was stable and I was basically able to live a normal life from about 30 weeks.
At 38 weeks I went in to have the stitch removed and after some drama with that, was induced and delivered our princess with no problems.

I hope my story helps somewhat - 16w is still a great early stage to have the stitch placed and with regular u/s hopefully they can catch any problems early and you will go on to bring your baby home.

    Good luck x

ps. Helen - I can't believe you are 37 weeks already!!

    ladies -

I am so torn. I think its because I have just entered 2nd tri and have some anxieties. I am seeing a specialist every week who is keeping a close eye on things and so far no problems to mention. I am also going to ask about a certain swab test that a girl had in another thread for a particular infection.

That being said part of me is starting to wonder if I should have a stitch - my Ob doesn't think I need one but the instant something changes he will put one in. I think its just my fears rather than "instinct" it is such a tricky time emotionally as I have Niki's first birthday just 9 days away.

I think I will bring it up with my Ob again in 2 weeks.
