    Clomid possibly linked?

I was just racking my mind at why I could have developed PE (pre eclampsia) so quickly.

I conceived Miss A using clomid and my cycles were monitored... Apart from the cycle where we conceived her.

Just wondering if PE and Clomid are linked in some way.

I'm going to ask my GP at my next appointment and will ask my specialist OB when I see him next.

I don't know the answer to your question but from the people I know that have conceived on Clomid, none had PE. ((hugs))

PE is just like that. It sucks.

I've had PE twice now and never taken clomid. I have read though that women with PCOS are at a higher risk for PE (not sure your reasons for taking clomid).

High risk factors for PE are -

    - being overweight
    - first time pregnancy
    - having had PE previously
    - PCOS or diabetes
    - being hypertensive when not pregnant.

I have read a lot about clomid and PE has never been mentioned as a potential side effect.

If ther is a link, it may actually be a correlation - ie, the factors that raise the risk of PE also increase the likelihood that you need clomid in the first place

I used clomid to conceive both my girls and never had PE or heard about there being a risk.

I used Clomid to conceive DS1 - no PE during that pregnancy (or when expecting DS2).
I think PE is just one of "those things" ... I've known a couple of healthy, not overweight women get it for no apparent reason.

I had severe PE with dd1 and no clomid, didn't have a trace of it with dd2. A friend of mine almost died a little while ago from severe PE that came on so quick and she had a natural conception and it was her second preg, first one was fine. Meanwhile everyone I know who has had PE its been when preg with a girl!!

I guess its just something that happens...

I am not overweight, nor was Miss A my first pregnancy, didn't have pre pregnancy issues with hypertension. Bp was always 120/80 in my drs visits right up till the end (29w1d...) I don't ovulate on a regular basis that's why I had to take clomid.

I Dr googled to see if there was a link and there apparently is... On some reports but isn't with others.

I guess I will know a bit more when the DNA geneticis (sp?) Study at the hospital is completed. They took my blood and some of miss a's to test.

I guess I'm trying to find a reason for having PE. But no one can say a definate...
