    UTI or something else?

Since about 12 weeks I've had a lot of groin/lower tummy aches and pains. I mentioned it to my GP who wanted to rule out an uti. First urine came back inconclusive, sent another sample off, same thing. She left it a few weeks and tried again, as luck turns out, inconclusive again!!

About 3 weeks ago now I done a repeat urine test and it came back positive to something similar to uti, only just got the results today as the clinic didn't call, even though my GP asked them too. I've now started a course of anti biotics.

Ive been taking a probiotic which seems isnt helping. I'm not a fan of taking pills whilst pregnant.

GP is going to keep a close watch on urine samples each visit now as she advised me that uti's can cause prem labour or low birth weight babies.

    any advice or suggestions?

    hi rosetti
probiotics wont help with UTI's. best to ensure that you are wiping front to back each time. also cranberry tablets or juice will line the bladder to stop those pesky little bugs from sticking to it causing UTI's. always wear cotton undies too.

hope it clears up for you soon!

oh and peeing straight after DTD helps too. all that friction down there at the time can help bugs climb up the urinary tract and take up inhabitance if the bladder isnt emptied soon after.

    good luck

Could be thrush which can mimic UTI signs. Cut out as much sugar and wheat as you can, drink lots of water and boost your immune system with great foods like garlic, onion, green leafy vegies, fresh juices and some GOOD probiotics. They aren't all the same and different probiotics have different functions. Ginger is soothing to the stomach and coconut oil has antifungal properties too, its great to replace cooking oils with it. It is common to get thrush and UTIs in pregnancy due to changes.

Oh I'm guilty I've not peeing straight after dtd probably 80% of the time since being pregnant, that's something I really must change. Any other time I race to the loo!

Ill invest in cranberry juice, never had it before, but if it helps then I'm all for it.

BellyBelly - What do you suggest as a good probiotic? I love garlic and that seems to go in every meal I cook, well when it can lol

With DS, I had thrush probably 7 of the 9 months, it was horrid! Ill get my GP to check if it could be that, don't have anybody the usual symptoms but it can't hurt to ask JIC
