At my 6w checkup after giving birth to DD, I had a pap smear, where my GP told me I had a eroded cervix. He told me it was nothing to worry about.
I am now 11 weeks pregnant, and have had a very small amount of bleeding on Sunday evening. It was just a streak of blood in my CM. Nothing more. I'm putting it down to the fact that I have a eroded cervix.
Has any one else had a eroded cervix? Can you tell me a bit more about it, and your experience withit during pregnancy.
I've been told it can get quite painful.
Mine has places of erosion on it..I had it explained to me after the birth of my first DD, my OB told me it can happen from being on the pill???? I have never had any pain from it but have had bleeding during my cycles and in pregnancy!!! Not sure if the bleeding in pregnancy is related to it or not???
First of all - cervical erosion doesn't mean that your cervix is being eaten away! I know it sounds like it, but it's a misleading name and really just means that the cervix is irritated - most likely from the acidic environment in the vagina.
I never had any pain from it during pregnancy - but it does mean that you are slightly more prone to bleeding from the cervix during pregnancy just due to increased circulation in that area. I only had one bleed - at 17 weeks, and it was likely triggered by an intense bout of vomiting. It didn't cause us any issues with birth, either.
I had cervical ectropion, which caused bleeding at 22ish weeks. I had a bit of pain but I can't say if it was from the CE or just pregnancy. I think i started a post on it ages ago lets see if I can find it...

From what I understand, the erosion is due to a high level of oestrogen, which happens when on the pill or when pregnant. It's the softer cells of the cervix that become over-grown. I have read that it looks inflamed and infected.
I do believe it can cause bleeding during pregnancy, and also if it is irritated or 'bumped'.
This is helping put my mind at ease (just a little) I have been spotting since 4 weeks pg (now 8) and heaver after internal US but am on oestrogen patches so hoping it is from the excess of this hormone
Loula you could always (if your comfortable with it) get your doctor to look at your cervix for you to find out if this is something you are experiencing.
