Question Feels like UTI, tests say no. Anyone had this?

    Hey there

I've been feeling like I've been getting a UTI for a few days now, that funny stinging feeling etc. Saw midwife yesterday for a urine test, just got preliminary results back and no sign so far. They still have to culture the sample and I'll find out if there's anything there in a couple of days.

But it really feels like a UTI. Has anyone had the symptoms of a UTI, but it wasn't detected on tests? This has happened to me several times in the past - I've had urine samples tested and they come back clear, but I still have the symptoms. I'm wondering if it's just an inflamed urethra or something. It's a bit mysterious, but I really want to know what's going on because I'm pg and a bit worried that this may affect the baby.

    Any advice will be appreciated.

    Thanks!

I had a similar thing when I was younger. It was due to me not drinking enough water. The concentrated urine stung a bit and irritated my bladder making me feel like I needed to go more often than I actually did. Maybe try upping water intake and cranberry tablets should be ok to take to help fight off any bugs that might be trying to grow....

Thanks Katkins, I do know I should be drinking more water than I do. Although I've been drinking loads of it for the last few days. Will get some cranberry juice too.

I second what katkins said. Same thing happens to me when I am dehydrated. Drink 1.5 litres a day if you can or supplement some of it with cranberry juice.

Thanks Dianna and Amysarah, I've been taking ural and that seems to help. Urine is definitely more potent since I got pg, no matter how much I drink it's still pretty dark. Will get some cranberry juice this afternoon.

Deep coloured urine definitely indicates dehydration. Try to carry a water bottle around everywhere you go and just sip all day. It will help I promise!
