    Question Funnelling Cervix??

I have just had a scan done at 29 weeks. The sonographer found that my cervix had started to funnel.

I cannot see my OB till Monday, and I was wondering if there was anyone else out there that this has happened to at this later stage of pregnancy. If so what did your Ob do and is it serious?

I have done a little research on the web, but I can only find info on when it happens in the earlier stages of pregnancy.

Any info would be greatly appreciated as my Monday appointment seems like a lifetime away!

Hi, don't you hate Friday appts! I had my 18wk scan with my last little man on a Fri, read the report which said I had mild shortening of the cervix, and my appt wasn't until Monday! I googled myself silly and freaked right out. At 29 weeks the cervix can naturally start to shorten, but I am not sure if funneling is normal at that gestation or not. Did the sonographer say anything about it? I am sure if they were concerned they would have spoke to you straight away, I would just lay low for the weekend, literally lie down. It can't hurt and then on Monday your Dr will be able to clarify things for you. If you have any increased/different discharge/bleeding/spotting, contractions, extra pressure or just don't feel right go into your hospital for another check up.
Good luck I'm sure all is fine.
