Wondering if anyone else has had this? Started last week with tingly itchy skin and I thought it might be an allergy to something, so I changed to no fabric softener, have been avoiding hot showers, using non soap body wash and daily putting on shea butter moisturiser which helps a little but its still there.
U
I have it all over but not on my palms and soles of feet, and I am not itching anyworse at night. Could it just be hormones? I have no rash either.
I will mention to Ob next visit on the 5th but I am a bit puzzled.
I've had fairly itchy skin lately too, but mostly across the front of my belly as everything stretches. Definitely mention it to your doc but if there's no rash or irritation just the itching my bet is it's just another of those lovely little preggo curve balls our bodies like to throw at us.
That's the best idea Lolpigs, if you aren't sure and are worried - make the call. I also think itchy skin in pregnancy is quite common, I've got it at the moment but once I lather myself with the oil stuff I bought it seems to take the itch away.
I've got this too. So bad my legs have bloody scratched bits where I've been clawing at them in my sleep. Have had it since about 15 weeks and have mentioned it to quite a few midwives and doctors and all have seemed unconcerned - just blamed it on hormones and preggy weirdness. Midwife noticed the scratch marks on my belly today and said that she'd heard of a particular cream that really helped but couldn't remember he name. She said that she'd ask the woman who recommended it and text me, so I'll pop back and let you know.
Just thought I would let you know my doc is sending my to have blood tests and bile salts tests tomorrow because they.are wanting to rule out choestatsis (sp?) which is a liver disorder where bile salts build up in your blood and make you itchy and can make bubs sick. :-( fingers crossed for me
Yeah he didnt seem super concerned I guess because it is mild and my liver function is good just told me to monitor bubs movements making sure I tell them if they slow, he did mention a medication but said it only managed the symptoms didnt change the condition or make bub safer so unless I really wanted to take it he didnt advocate it.
The itching has been coming and going so fingers crossed it stays mild and no reason to bring bub early. That was one thing I really didnt want was to be induced so I am keeping hopeful. He did say that was worst case senario so fingers crossed for me!
