I have been getting a sore pubic mound for the last week or so. It's kind of like my belly is pushing all the flesh down to that area and making it feel tender. I don't think it's bone pain, but it feels like it's all bruised, especially in the morning. What is this? I googled and it kept coming up with SPD, but it is my understanding that SPD is pubic BONE pain, not just the flesh on the mound.
It probably just your ligaments softening up and pressure being placed on your pubic area. Also, your groin region is being flooded with a lot more blood then normal, which can cause swelling and bruising and make everything even more sensitive.
SPD in my experience is very severe and can affect the entire pelvic and hip region. When I've had it really bad I have barely been able to move and it felt like my hips were actually popping out of joint (even though ive been assured they couldn't actually do that) and the muscles where always sore as they were working overtime trying to hold everything together and being stretched to their limits, even with several layers of support tubing and a hip brace and girdle.
There is an article on BellyBelly to read which covers off on the more general kind of hip and pelvic pain experienced in pregnancy and methods that may help alleviate it.
Thanks Misty That sounds awful! I have had quite a bit of pelvic pain and I'm having physio after Easter. I think it all stems from hip surgery I had when I was 14 so I've always had a dodgy hip. I had a lot of pelvic pain early on at about 9 weeks onwards. I do hope it doesn't develop into anything more serious. Sucks having dodgy joints!
