    low bp

    Hi.

I just wanted a bit of information about low bp. I had an episode yesterday, where I had tunnel vision and couldn't hear properly and felt like i was going to faint. I went to the local hopital, (non maternity) and they took my bp, which was 107/74. My bp is normally 120/60. They said to just go home and take some panadol for the headaches.

I went to my Dr this morning, because I didn't trust what that dr said, and found my bp to be lower again. It was 100/60 now. She told me to go and get blood tests done, to check my salt and iron levels. I have to go back on thursday morning to see whats happening. She marked the results as urgent.

I have had the episode a few weeks ago of tunnel vision and was just wondering if anybody else has had this and what was the outcome? I am very scared as the Dr said to take an aspirin every day to prevent a stroke. I am still feeling very light headed and my eyes are feeling dark and i probably need to lie down.

Any info would be a great help right now. Thanks

Well, your numbers aren't anything too concerning, IMO. My BP is normally around 110/70 or so, and during pregnancy is often about 90/60. However, the symptoms are obviously stressful and concerning for you. It sounds like maybe you had an episode of very low blood pressure, which had recovered by the time you were checked. The other possibility that I can think of is low blood sugar. Had you eaten recently when this happened?
I'm afraid I can't offer any real great advice here, but try not to stress too much. If you feel faint when you are out and about, find a spot to sit or lie down immediately, until you feel OK again. Also, just because your tests were marked "urgent" doesn't necessarily mean that there is something drastic going on. Just means that the doctor wants the results back sooner. Hope your doctor has some good answers for you soon! All the best!

I had eaten lots yesterday. I had 2 oranges just beofre it hit me yesterday, and had breakfast and lunch too, so i'm not sure about the low blood sugar, because it's still low today. I know its not deathly low or anything, i just know its low for me, i usually tend to get higher bp in pregnancy. So its just a little concerning. I have to get my GD test done on friday. So maybe if there is anything to do with that I will find out after that test.

    Thanks for the advice.
