    Gastro

    Anyone have any tips?

After feeling off all weekend I came down with a case of gastro Monday morning. This may sound weird, but I don't remember ever having it before. I have spurts during each day and night where I'm just running to the bathroom and other stretches where I'm fine.

Monday I just dealt with it. Tues morning I rang my ob who suggested gastrolyte. I'm gonna have to go to the gp today for a doc certificate at the very least. In the meantime, does anyone have any advice? The only thing that agreed with my yesterday was a few jatz biscuits.....not the best nutrition...

You poor thing, it's the worst! I think just whatever you can stomach while your unwell, your body has a way of evening things out after unusual periods of eating poorly, so long as you don't make a habit out of it long term.

Since I've had morning sickness I've found Gatorade non offensive and helpful with hydration if I can't stomach water/proper food. Also watermelon but you probably don't want to overload with fibre when you have gastro :/

I had it last week and had to rest for 2 days because it was irritating my uterus so rest if possible and lots of water I do boiled rice with butter mixed in usually

Keep your fluids up! I ended up in hospital hooked on a drip on Monday due to continuing ms still.... Ob said he was wanting me to focus on fluids rather than food as it's important to stay hydrated. If you feel like you haven't kept your fluids in call the hospital as they will check your hydration through urine and blood tests.
Hope you feel better soon x

Thanks for the advice everyone! I'm sure I haven't had enough fluids cause I do feel much better when I drink (although I'm finding it hard to drink much). I am onto my 3rd glass of gastrolyte this morning and I am feeling an improvement.... I have a doc app in 2 hrs so I'll see what they say....

    Hey lovely,

Fluid is the most important thing for you and bubs at the moment. Food you can do without to an extent. I hope that the Doctor can help in some way

    Thanks!

The doc said I'm a bit dehydrated but not too much. I've been advised to keep up the gastrolyte. I must be feeling a bit better as I'm starting to contemplate food - I'm a bit scared of eating though!

Maybe have some dry toast or some thin chicken soup? Have you tried Hydrolyte Ice Blocks? In this hot weather they aren't too bad
