I have just had my 12 week scan and the doctor said everything was good. The last doctors appointment I had at 8 weeks they took bloods and I was given the results to take home with me this visit. I asked the assistant if everything was ok with the bloods and she said that if there was a problem he would have told me. ok, no worries, that works for me, but then I looked at the blood test results table when I got home. It said
Toxoplasma IGM - positive
value 1.17
So naturally I am freaking out that is says positive to Toxoplasmosis!!! has anyone ever dealt with this before and know what the levels mean????? He didnt say a thing to me about it so I amreally confused. I a going back tomorrow to ask what it means but I think I may go around the twist before then!!
Don't worry! I'm pretty sure most people are + to toxoplasmosis. It's actually more of a worry to be - if you're pregnant, because getting it in pregnancy can be dangerous for the baby. I believe you can pick it up by being exposed to cats, more particularly their poo. So if you've had a cat and cleaned it's litter try, chances are you've already picked up toxoplasmosis. Hope that eases your worries a bit
thanks sooooooo much PumpkinZulu and Kitfaerie!!! you have really helped put my mind at ease. I will be seeing a new doctor in about 3 weeks (we are moving) so I guess I can wait til then to ask questions. I cant imagine my doctor here would have put me at any risk. He is a very good doctor.
