    Whats next???

    Hi there

Just wondering, I've just come back from my GD test (28 weeks) and was told the levels are really high. They didnt give me a number or anything, just told me they were really high and to book in to see my OB ASAP. Which I've done. Seeing him late tomorrow.

What Im wondering is, is what happens now? The nurse told me there would be another test but the OB would explain more. I guess I just want to calm my own nerves and not freak out. It was really unexpected as the first pregnancy I had I didnt even blip on their to look at screen.

    Thanks guys!

    Lisa

Was it the one hour test that you did? If so, they will get you to do a two hour fasting test, so it will be in the morning and they will give you a stonger sugar drink. They will take blood before, at one hour and at two hours.

There is still a reasonable chance that it was a random high result - the one hour test is only for screening and not conclusive, hence the follow-up two hour full test.

If the second test does come back as a high result, there is a GD support group at the top of the medical conditions page, there are a few girls in there going through the same thing if you need to vent or ask anything.

    Good luck.
