    Melly

I had an ultrasound on my gall bladder, liver, ribs etc last year (all clear) but was at St Lukes (Calvary) and the chickie that did it took about half an hour looking at all my bits... I can't remember how much it cost me though sorry.

What about your liver ? Has there been any mention of that ?

    Lets catch up !

I get that searing pain too under my right ribs when pregnant. When i first got it they thought gallbladder too because it was such a crippling pain but I had an ultrasound and there was nothing wrong. They just put it down to one of those things that can't be explained.

Well I have a scan at 4.30 today (Jahzara, I wanted to go to St Lukes, but they sent me to St Vincents instead) and I have to fast for 6 hours!!!!! So I've had a sanga, glass of milk and a fruit bar, so hopefully that will tide me over for the rest of the arvo. Ridiculous.

Antheia - thats the diagnosis I'm scared of getting too... just one of those unexplained things.

mel, had a thought, i replied on your fb that it sounded like gallstones, my gallbladder was removed in sept, but then i remembered a couple of months ago, i picked miff up, 2 minutes later, i was on the ground in the foetal position, massive pain between my ribs and shoulder blades, thought i was going to faint. i ended up spewing everywhere, then xavi called me, i turned around, my back clicked and the pain and nausea ended. the pain this day was so similar to the last attack of gall stones i had.

so, point of my rambling - how's your back going??

Boobaloo - I know we've chatted on FB since your post so I won't answer it here

Well I had my scan, and all looks fine. No gallstones. Other organs look fine, he said he didn't see anything that would indicate a problem.

So now we have NFI why I'm getting these attacks. I didn't have one last night. Will I have one tonight? Who the heck knows. I've deposited my stool sample and will see what comes from that, and he's also referred me for blood tests, which I'm not sure when I'll get done, depends on the kids and arrangements for someone to look after them. DH can't take too much time off work cos we have a birth coming up!

I am not pregnant but TCC so I hope it's ok I respond in here but had almost identical symptoms last month, including reacting badly to small amounts of chocolate and other seemingly random foods. I also had blood tests, a stool test and ultrasound but it all came up clear. So still a mystery. I'm taking probiotics, the ibs probiotic plus mintec before eating (i have never been diagnosed with ibs but decided to do an ibs diet just in case) and it's under control though I still get discomfort after some meals. It seems to dissipate faster and not be as painful too.

So no advice from me except I empathize!

This sounds completley like gall bladder attacks. I had them for approx a year, until tmy gall bladder became infected and had to be removed.

My dr explain to me the reason my skin *****les and itches when i'm hot when i'm pregnant is because I dont have a gall baldder, my body (whos liver normally has to work hard anyway) is now working extra hard and cant clear the bile prolery.

Sounds to me like the pregnancy is causing your gall bladder to work OT, however you normally only get an attack when you have a stone blocking the passage way, or its infected.

If its really affecting you I would get them to do an ultrasound to confirm weather you have stones or not, because if you have stones, it will just get worse over time sadly Happily if you dont have stones, it probably just your liver taking a battering. I find drinking apple juice always helped me as it is a natural directic and helps clear the liver.

Sorry to hear your going through it, I know the feeling, feels like your dying sometimes with the severe attacks.

    Thinking of you.
