When should I go to the doc? *Warning - TMI!!*

OK may seem like a basic question - but if I wasn't pregnant I probably wouldn't be asking it.

Yesterday I was feeling quite off and ate hardly anything all day - which is not like me at all (I'm a big eater, and even more since being pregnant) but my temp was fine, so it was just like I was having an off day. Didn't feel like chocolate or anything, which is like, a miracle.

So today, I woke up and started getting the runs. And I haven't stopped. All this morning (at least every half an hour) I would have to run my preggers waddly body down to the loo. Which isn't easy, especially when you have a 16 month old trailing your every move and sitting next to you whilst you ... release your bowels.
So the IL's came and got him at lunch time, and I've been napping on and off since then, my tummy is gurgling like you wouldn't believe, have the maddest yukkiest noises coming from in there, and sometimes quite painful belly pain. I haven't felt bubs move in a while (which is probably normal, might be sleeping) and I have a slight temp (37.3 - my normal temp on the thermometer we have is around 35.9) and I haven't been able to eat anything today. I had toast and a cup of tea, and went straight to the loo, so haven't seen the point letting good food go to waste!!! I've been drinking water though, although not as much as I had yesterday.

So my question is, how long can a pregnant body go without proper food for?? And can anyone suggest anything other than water to drink cos after two days of it, i'm getting a little sick of it. (not to mention no chocolate is going in! I do have to feed my double chin you know... )

So when would you go to the doc - considering I haven't felt him/her move in a while and I've been sick?? Not that I'm too worried, he/she is probably taking cover because he/she thinks their world is exploding from all the noise!!!!

Mel - I would ring your Dr soon rather than later and ask them what they think. Me personally would make an apt and go and see the dr especially since you haven't eaten and keep going to the toilet every 1/2 hour. Have you felt bubs move since yesterday??

    Hi Gudism
You can go without food for a few days without doing any harm. However if you are going to the toilet every 1/2 hour then you are losing fluids and electrolytes. If things have not eased by tomorrow I think it would be a good idea to get checked out. In the meantime you need to drink as much as you can to prevent dehydration. You could also consider going to the chemist and getting an electrolyte replacement. Get something without or with minimal caffeine.

Thanks Alan I'm not that worried about myself, hell I could live off the lard in my butt alone for at least a month and be fine... but just keep thinking.. god if I don't eat, how is my baby being sustained??? where is bubs getting nutrients from!!!

Ayapi - yeah bubs was moving this morning - just that period of about 4 hours where the rabbit didn't move. About ten minutes after I posted, rabbit got the hiccups typical!!!

Holly - thanks. I'll see if I can get an appointment to see someone. And I'll get DH to get me a electrolyte drink on the way home.

Thanks guys. I had a couple of panadol and went for a nice warm shower cos I kept getting chills, they seem to have stopped for the moment.

Hmm.. it seems the toilet is still my best friend, and from what I can tell, water is going straight through me too!!!
I have had some powerade drinks (although DS is obsessed with them and keeps trying to steal them and say "mine!").

I think I will try to make an appointment to see someone today cos its getting ridiculous..

Yep, I would get checked out today hun. It's hard to keep replacing all that fluid, and you don't want to become too dehydrated.

mel - glad you are going to go to the doctor hun... err on the side of caution say i. Its interesting isnt it that we tend to not want to be a pain, think we are being silly/over-reacting, etc etc... I've done it too. But 24 hours of what you have going on, well - go to the doctors, for your own peace of mind if nothing else.

I had this with Kane at about 35 weeks, and went up to maternity. They put me on a drip for a while and you wouldn't beleive how much better I felt!!! I didn't realise i felt so crap, till I started to feel so good!!

They will worry if you cant keep water in, so please get checked hon!!!
