    hip/thigh pain

please move if this is in the wrong place.

I have just started a 2nd job that is really full on walkin and standing for 10 to 12 hrs at a time and my normal job is just sittin alot.

So now sinnce ihave been walkin alot more my hip and down my leg hurts really bad when i sit and by after my 2nd shift of a weekend i can not sleep at all when i get home because no matter how i lay i can not get comfy. the only thing that has stopped it has been panadine forte but i only had 2 of them left.
i am going to try to get into the doc this week but it wont end up being until thurs arvo or fri morning so just wondering has anyone hadd this pain before and is there anythign i can do to help it like stretches or anything.

It could be sciatica. I had it terribly with my pregnancies and still get it occasionally.

nah its not that i had that when preg with DD and this is dif. it is in the actual hip and it doesnt really hurt if u hit it or poke it just when sittin too long or laying down.

my personal trainer told me it was the muscle but he has gone away so i wont see him for a month so i cant ask him for tips either.

just saw this thread. Sounds like something is trapped - a visit to an osteo might help. In the mean time, stretch your thighs with bending at knee and tucking foot up to your bum.

Hip flexor stretch - there are a few but the one I find best is to kneel as if you're proposing to someone, then lean forward straightening the back leg (hope that makes sense).

Also try to stretch your glutes. The one I find best is to stand (most people can achieve the same stretch sitting but I am double jointed), bend the affected leg so your ankle is above your knee. If your standing, hold on to something and then move as though you're going to sit. If you're sitting, you might need to lean forward from the hips to achieve the stretch.

Oh, and I'd probably try some anti inflammatories. I take oral voltaren which can be purchased over the counter at the pharmacy.

HTH and hope it has settled
