    Unhappy PID

I have PID, have had IV antibiotics for 5 days and 2 different pills to take for another 8 days after that. However, the PID hasnt gone away. Has anybody else had PID, how did treatment go? Im starting to get worried as we would like to have more children and I know this disease can cause reproductive problems and even infertiliy.

I'd like to know if anyone knows anything more about PID. I have a friend who is very sure she has this, but as yet, the doctors have not diagnosed it. She has been to doctor after doctor, and has had a million scans that don't find anything, and blood tests don't show up anything - is the only way to diagnose through a lap? Also, from what I've been reading, it makes it sound like you can only get PID if you've been sexually active, which my friend has not. She did have an ovarian cyst (quite large) too, but it appears to have gone, cause her last scan showed no cyst
She's in so much pain, and so depressed cause no doctors seem to have worked it out yet, and a lot of them seem to think she's making it up (she seriously is not!).

Any ideas, advice, etc would be so helpful - I'm so worried about her!

PID can be caused by Chlamydia (which is maybe why you were thinking you can only get it from being sexually active). It is actually a broad term which covers many conditions.

Thanks. I have not got my PID from any sexually transmitted diseases. But from bacterial overgrowths that went bad quickly. The doctors here did swabs, ultrasounds and internal exams. If your friend thinks she has this, then I think she should go to a gynocoligist. Hope she can get to the bottom of it, fast.
