Question Stemzine can it make you feel depressed ??

    Hi all,

I was prescribed Stemzine 5mg one tablet three times a day to help with nausea and dizziness (i recently found out i have an inflamed liver so waiting for test result to come back next week so GP told me to start taking Stemzine since yesterday to help some in the meantime).

But today i have noticed my mood feels incredibly low to the point of almost feeling like i'm depressed ... Has anyone ever experienced this before whilst taking Stemzine ?

As Stemzine helps to correct imbalances in the brain to treat nausea and dizziness i was wondering if it's triggered something else off in me

Will see how i feel tomorrow.

    TIA for any suggestions

do you have an impending feeling of doom?
    Increased heart rate?
    Increased anxiety?

If yes, I'd suggest that you ARE having a reaction to the medication and would recommend ceasing it and talking to your GP tomorrow about alternatives. I have seen this happen with anti emetics in the past (moreso maxalon).

Stemazine (more commonly known as Stemetil) is the best medication for vertigo or a combinationg of dizziness and nausea. You could try other anti emetics but they won't be as effective.

Yeh MG, all three ... MG thanks so much for coming through and helping (you have no idea how much help you are to a lot of us here, your such a huge asset lovely lady ) ... and i'm glad & relived to say i feel heaps better today, it's still lingering but i'm fine (you know when your fine IYKWIM) ... i guess yesterday it scared the hell out of me cause i thought " Oh no please don't trigger something off here as i'm still going through the process of grieving ".

Just as you mentioned MG if it happens again i'm def ringing my GP, would rather have the nausea & dizziness then feel depressed any day !!!

    Thanks again MG xOx

you're welcome hon . I understand your concern re: depression - but I just want to make it clear that the feelings I was describing are different to depression. It may feel the same as when you are having an episode of depression... but the feelings caused by this drug will not set off an episode of depression or cause depression. It is a physiological response to the medication and, as it wears off, so will the symptoms. It is classed as a sensitivity to the medication - not quiet an allergy but certainly something that should be brought to the attention of your care giver and whenever you present to hospital.

    Did that make sense?
