    Subchronic Heamorrhage...

    Hi,
Well I went for an ultrasound on Wednesday after a slight bleed and the results came back saying that I have a subchronic heamorrhage of 15 mm. All was fine until last night (Sunday) when I started to bleed. I almost had a heart attack. I rang my doctor this morning and he said this can happen and if it gets really heavy to go to the hospital for a scan but so far it is only when I wipe and not even enough to come out onto a pad. Anybody have any information on this condition?

    Thanks
    <33 Nicole.

P.S. On wednesday I saw my first little glimmer of hope with a tiny heartbeat budumping away at 131 bpm.

There are a few girls on BB who have had a subchorionic haematoma, is that the same thing?

Here are some links to other threads. I hope they are helpful.

Hi - I have no personal experience but a friend recently had a subchorionic haemorrhage. She was told to take it very easy - no heavy lifting, no sports, minimal physical activity - rest basically. Anyway, it resolved. Apparently she was told that they are rather common and are often not picked up as they usually occur early in the pregnancy. Hope everything is ok and take it easy.

I agree with Rachel. Take things very easy for the next couple of days. No lifting, no housework, just rest. If the blood is there only when you wipe then things are OK if it gets any heaver then get it checked. If it does not stop within the next couple of days get it checked.

I found this site through googling SCH. I'm so glad that it is somewhat current, after being started in 2006. I found out two weeks ago, after pretty significant bleeding that I have SCH 2" (maybe 5 cm) which is large. I am 8 wks pregnant with twins. After thinking back to a m/c I had many years ago at 10 wks, I think, eventhough I wasn't diagnosed, that I had SCH then. Now, I don't know how this going to go. I just feel hopeless in that I have four active children a job and husband. I don't see how it is remotely possible for me to go on bedrest. I had a u/s today which revealed that the SCH is relatively the same size as it was two weeks ago. I haven't had any bleeding since 2 1/2 wks ago (which is a good sign but I do feel it's just a matter of time). I have told myself that I'm in the first trimester and there is time for me and the babies to heal. This is all new to me, complications, in that I have run 5 miles up to the day of delivery in prior pregnancies, Now I feel like I have jeopardized these babies, myself and my children. I can't get myself excited about this pregnancy, as it the pregnancy was a complete surprise and twins were even a bigger surprise. I don't consider myself a negative pessimistic person but I certainly am over this pregnancy and SCH. I was looking at maternity clothes today and I just thought don't buy anything b/c you don't know. Do you feel like you can't bring yourself to be involved in your pregnancy as you are living on borrowed time?

    Never give up hope!!!!

I have just miscarried after a sub-chronic heamatoma at 8 weeks. My blood clot was created when i fell pregnant with twins and only one baby formed correctly. has anyone else out there experienced this? Did you fall pregnant again??

My blood clot was 5.9cms by 4.6cms by 5cms. It was one of the largest ever seen at RNSH and manly emergancy. I tried to rest but found it hard with a friends baby shower to organise and a surprise party. the best advice that can be given is to rest, who knows maybe I'd still be pregnant if i took the advice.

I eneded up haemoraging very badly and almost lost my own life as well as the baby i was carrying. I spent 2 days in ICU and i am awaiting my final scan to make all is good to start trying again.

Does any one know when i can start trying again and what the chances are that this will happen again?

I wish each and every one of you the very best of luck and rest well!!!!

I received an email telling me someone replied. First, let me say I'm sorry for your loss. When I posted my comments it was 6 weeks ago. Since then I have had a couple of severe bleeding episodes which resulted in the expelling of the SCH. I'm presently 15 wks pregnant and the twins seem to be doing okay. I'm not out of the woods yet as I might have an amnio in the next couple of weeks.

As I stated, I think I've had a SCH before which resulted in a m/c. In fact I was utterly convinced that I had a m/c at 6 wks with all the bleeding (shocked even to find out I was still pregnant). I'm not sure what caused my SCH other than a tear in the placenta, which I think has healed (I'll find out in two days when I go to the doctor). I also think that being pregnant w/ twins can contribute to having an SCH. Since I was first diagnosed with it I've found out that SCH are quite common, expecially w/ multiples. It seems to result in m/c about 15% of the time.

I don't think that since you had one SCH that your at risk for another, its just something that happens. I have had two, but I also have been pregnant 7 times and have four children.

I wish you luck, I'm sorry for your loss and I hope you will have a lasting and healthy pregnany. As far as how long to wait until you get pregnant I'm not a doctor I can only tell you from my personal experience that when I had a m/c I was pregnant the next month w/ child #3 (who is now 6).
