Hi All,

I'm in my 10 weeks pregnancy now and it's my first pregnancy. However, i have acute ezcema problem on my skin all over my body. I went to skin specialist and doctor prescribe some topical steriod cream for me and some medicine before i knew i was pregnant. I stopped the medication at once. However, the ezcema relapse is making my life miserable as the itch makes me sleepless at night and the spots is always inflammed if left untreated with the cream.

I have asked for advice from my gynae, however, she then ask me to refer to my skin specialist. My skin specialist assured me that the cream is fine since it is not put on most part of my skin and it won't cause systemic reaction. However, i have the spots all over my body and i am not sure if this consider as most part of my skin or not. I have searched for info in the internet and saw most article saying abt the potency of topical steriod during pregnancy. I am worried. As im not sure how potent is the cream i am using. It is Univote cream.

Can any mummy or experts share your advice ? Also , in replace of the cream, i am using Gohnson's baby soft lotion to relief my dry skin which cause more itchyness. But the ingredient contains Stearyl Alcohol and several alcohol substance. I knew that alcohol is not allowed during pregnancy as it will cause impact to the foetus. But by applying the lotion, is it safe ? as it originally intended for baby use, i assume it is quite mild. Am i right ?
