hi sushee,
the sentence to the world you may be one person, but to the one person you maybe the world.
that sentence is so true for me, my youngest son is intellectually disabled he has global development delay basically i'm his eyes and ears to the world to make sure he doesn't kill himself, which by the way has come close.
have a great day

Ray,
That quote definitely stuck a cord with me, and I'm so glad it did for you too. And you're right, it does sound very true of your situation.
Hi Ray how are things going. When do you think you will be having your first go at IVF? When is your af due?
Hi Ladies,
WOW!! I have just read several threads back just to catch up on all the news. I only have just over 4 weeks to go till i have my first appt with the Dr at QE2 to see about having the TR done. I am getting so excited about it all, but i think i am also getting a little scares all at the same time. I have been reading about the IVF and the age of some of you wonderful woman. I getting a little anxious i guess with the age issue as i have just turned 37. I never had a prob getting preg prior to having the TL done in the first place. I will have to let nature take its course and see what it blesses us with at the end of the day.
An update on my son. The neurosurgeon just wants to let him deal with things in his own way for the next 6mths, then repeat the MRI again to see how it is all going.
Well ladies better dash. I will try to keep in touch a little bit more.
Cheers
kiya
hi mumof5,
everything is great just busy, my baby is 6 years old tomorrow
hopefully starting ivf in august or september just waiting on people who owe hubby some money.
I'm ovulating in about 3 days so af is due about 13th of july.
How are things with you? sorry to here you didn't ovulate. I have been taking my temp every morning for about 4 months my temp sky rockets up when i ovulate and my backaches as well.
When are you starting ivf?
ray:D
Yeah Ray it was abit of a bumer but oh well. My af is due today but hasnt yet arrived. We still have next month tho. When i get my next cycle which should be around the 24th July I have to call the fertility centre straight away and go in. They will give me the pill and my other drugs. I start the pill that day and then on week 3 of taking the pill i start taking the nazel spray. After that im not to sure yet but the nurse did say it all takes like 6 weeks from the time you start taking the pill to when they put them back. So its all very exciting but im just scared that it wont work. They said you have 1 in 3 chances on falling first go and if you have two eggs put back there is a 30% chance you will have twins. Your hubby will have to start knocking on some doors soon to collect his money.
hi mumof5,
yeah he has been it's confusing, his old boss was sub contracted and his boss hasn't paid him yet so we haven't been paid. They owe us $3500 and we have the rest for ivf. Don't stress it will work out have faith. My dr said 6 weeks all up i can't wait :dance:.
ray:D
Have you had all your test done yet like bloods ultrasound papsmear and sperm. Even tho they know why we cant get pregnant we still had to have them all done. So fingers crossed you should be able to start the pill on the 10th of August.
hi kiya. it's good to hear from you. i was scared to when i went there too! you'll be right. it's been 12months today since my reversal and still trying. actually i might have another hsg just to check my tubes. i had no problems falling pregnant before my tubes were tied either. i have just turned 36 and my dh is 45. i hope that i'm blessed with a child soon. keep us updated kiya. a big hello to everyone else
Hi guys, still keeping up with you all & wishing you all the very best.
Hey Storm where is MAZ???????
Over the loo! LOL
I'll find out, most likely doesn't realise a new thread.
hi ya girls
Yes im very sick - cant eat properly, having blurry vision and spewing atleast twice a day. Sorry i havent posted,....and yes Storm - I forgot it was a new thread (stupid pg brain)
onemore - I fell pg 3 times with my tubes doen, decided I wanted them unclamped, had it done in october 2005 and fell pg that december. I had my beautiful little (grrr) ratbag Vyolett in september last year and this is my 3rd pg since (Ive had a m/c in november and one to twins in march) were there is a will there is a way adn a group of $hit hot chickies to support you. only a few of us know what its like and its good to know we have shoulders to lean on when we need them.
BBL - need to pick Wilhelm up from kinder
Hi Maz, good to hear some sucesful stories after t/r, I`m new here so didn`t realise your pg so congrats and hope your feeling better. I`m having a patency test done in August, that will at least give me a bit of insight as to whats going on in there.
If you don`t mind me asking, did they cut you along the pubic line when you had your op? and can you have a natural birth or do you have to have a c section. Hope these questions aren`t too silly !!!
Yep - my cut was from hipo to hip onemore. I had 2 previous c/s before my op and I have been told no way - c/s again. No question is ever to silly.
Must add to, the op does knock you for a 6. Be prepared, its not a walk in the aprk. It took me a good 2 weeks to get to part of my mo go back. I just remember how painfull it was to go do a pooh...PMSL. I never had the patency test done..what is it?
This is my second pg after having the reversal - Storm also has 2 darling after her reversal.
Now girlies..I have a BIG question...... Jed and I have decided that this is defently it. NO more as my back is killing me and I walk around like a hunch back most days plus having my 4th c/s wont be to good. Any way Im wondering what I should do for contraception after Mr Squiggle is born????? Call me stupid but am considering getting the docs to take my whole tube out, I defently dont want any more kids. I am so confussed...Storm were are you when I need you
Hi Maz, I had the reversal done a year ago today and yes I remember how it was!! It took about 6 months for me to get back to normal and the cut actually split a tiny bit at about 6 weeks post op and took ages to heal, the Dr`s thought I may have had diabeties because it wasn`t healing very well, had the tests but all was normal.
Tubal patency test is where they push dye through your tubes then do an ultrasound to see if the tubes are clear, hopefuly that will be fine but apparently its quite common for the tubes to get scarring after an amount of time. I`m glad you replied to me, because it gives me hope for the future, and I really would like it to happen naturaly if possible.
I dont know what your feelings are but I would think seriously about having permanant contraception done again, one of the problems I had with the whole tubal ligation I think was emotional, knowing that I couldn`t have any more children really played havoc with my mind, then I felt bad because it was my choice to have the op in the first place when a lot of people have trouble conceiving from the begining.
Gosh Maz, I dunno? I know I would never have a perm. method again, I'm on BCP even though I hate them, but I don't want another just now either.(will PM you the latest asap. promise can't now cos I have Amy hanging off my shoulder PMSL)
Onemore, I had my last 2 kiddies post op, naturally, so I don't think having a TR means you have to have a c/s.
Hi everyone,
Please bare with me as I am new here.
I have been reading all of your posts on this thread, and unfortunately it has left me even more confused about what to do.
I have looked at all the stats for both reversal and ivf as well as compared the prices and success rates. I had my tubal done with the filschie clips about 7 years ago. I am 33 and dh is 40.
I would love to hear from anyone in sydney on what they did, and where. I had read that you can have it done in a public hospital, but when I talked to docs I was told that isn't true and I would be looking at $7000-$8000. Monet we don't really have.
Any help or advice at all will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks heaps,
framaine
Sorry framaine
Im from Melbourne and Yes I went public and didnt pay a cent. It took me 10 months from my first appointment until the day I had my reversal.
Storm is from Sydney she can help
Good luck matie and let us know how you go
Framaine,I had to go private, I ended up traveling up to new Castle to get it done, it was a big decision between the TR & IVF but we choose the TR for the options of making AF better & also the possibility of more kids should they happen,& it would work out cheaper & was more practical in that sense, even though there really are no guarantees with the TR it did have a better "take home baby rate" than IVF had.
Where abouts in Sydney are you? You could contact an IVF clinic, as some of them also do the TR & gynae's do as well, I was very disappointed when I found out my OB/gynae does them & I could have had it done 15 mins away. Oh well.
It cost me $6G as it was all done privately, there is no public list here in NSW.
I wish you all the best,
you could call a few gynae's in your area & ask the receptionist if they do them.
Hi Fcnessi, i think the doctors are telling you stories as i had my reversal done 9mths ago in a public hospital (RPA) as a public uninsured patient(no babies yet tho). Call Dr M.Cooper rooms, they will tell you that it is possible. Its not 100% that you will get a pregnancey and even how long it will take for you to get pregnant. Im a very impatient person so i have decided to do ivf.And its alot cheaper and the % rate is higher.
Hi Maz good to see that everything is ok. I too wonder wat i'll do once i have completed having my family. I think i will be having my tubes done again. I never had any problems when i had my tubes done. It was only since having the reversal that i get bad period pain, very very very heavy bleeding and big clots of blood and im not ovulating every month. I guess we are all different and all our bodies have all reacted in different ways and done weird and wonderful things.
Hi to everyone else, hope all is well.
Take care..
Hi Fcnessi, I had my op at Royal Womens in Melbourne also, at no cost had to wait about
9 months from initial visit. Not pg yet, it`s been a year. If you can`t find what you are looking for in Sydney the cost of air travel these days it`s really worth considering looking into going to Melbourne if money is an issue. When I was on the waiting list last year we decided to move to WA and would you believe that we were in Kununurra for 4 months when I got my op date, in the end it cost me about $1000 for air fares.
Storm... thats good to hear, I wasn`t sure how it all worked, a few ladies I know who have had c-sections have had to have the same for all their other children, just wondered if the cut was similar.
maz... we probably went to the same hospital !!
hi maz,:hello:
i don't know what you can do about contraception ? in my situation i literally have no chose the clamps stay on, i'm not allowed to be on anything. Thats why we are doing ivf.
maybe you can have them put back on and if you want another one do ivf. How's your morning sickness going?
Hi:hello: to everybody else how has everyone been?
Hi:hello: to fcnessi, i can't really help you i still have my clamps on. And i'm doing around of ivf in about 2-3 months. It's costing us $5300 up front but we are only going to be out of pocket $1300, for a reversal here it's $3000
ray:D
jed and i have had a good chat and im going to ask the doc's when i have my c/s to remove my tube. I defently dont want anymore kidies after this one and i fell pg 3 times with them clamped so i think thats our best option.
thanks for your input girls
omg Maz!! That's such a toughie to make.
I've been wondering after #6 what to do as well, wonder if DH will get the snip?
I just said to jed cause im already 'open' so to speak they may aswell fix me and he has the biggest thing about a doc playing with his balls PMSL typical friggen man!!
Are you guys defently going to have a number 6 then????
Hmmmmm most likely LOL , we'll see what happens.........
Dunno if DH will have it done either, but I seem to fall just by laying next to him, so something has to be done, I am on BCP, when I remember to take it :help:
Hi Ladies,
I have the silliest of ?? and i hope you guys don't mind me asking. I haven't had my TR yet, going for my first appt at end of the mth, but i am really concerned about my age and if i am doing the right thing about having TR done. I have just turned 37 (june) and one of my friends couldn't stop ear bashing me about how old i am and that i was making a huge mistake for wanting another baby. DH and i so want to have another baby, and think that age isn't a factor, well at least to us anyways. So is there anyone here is around my age that had the same thoughts/concerns about the age issue?
Cheers
kiya
Kiya - honey tell your friend to go chew her boot! My mum had me at 37 and I have a very close bond with her. If your wanting another baby and your hubby is too, then go for it. Your never to old to be a mum...god there are women out there having babies in their 60's and your friend is worried about you being almost 40...ba humbug to her. In the end you are the one who has to be pleased (and hubby of course) not her. Oh and can you let us know how you go....we love to hear good news and we'll support you.
hi kiya,
i'm 32 years old and we are doing ivf to have another one. I wouldn't worry about your age if you and hubby want another go for it.
I'll tell you something my aunty was 43 years old when she had her 4th daughter, my cousin is 4 days older then my oldest son.
goodluck :D:D:D:D
ray:lol:
Kiya.... I agree tell your friend to go blow chunks. Your only as old as you feel and most people these days dont start there families till there 30. Go for it and i wish you and hubby all the best. Where do you live??
Maz i agree.I'll be having another c/s so best to have it done in one hit if they will do it again.
Storm, hehe 1 more will even things out...so when will you be thinking of trying again???
maz, i know the feeling of back pain... but i agree with storm, it's a bit rough and you have to remember that the tubes supply blood to your ovaries and your ovaries supply hormomes to you body- there is another new device called a marina. it is placed in the uterus. ask about and for jed- you have been through heaps- its only two days for him and doctors don't care about size- they have seen them before.
storm, hey how are you?
kiya- my sister had clamps and then a reversal last year and just gave birth to a healthly baby boy- she is 37 also. the choice really depends on you and how the ligation was done.
ray, where are you having your ivf done?
fcnessi, hi i had my reversal done on dec 06 by dr cooper to. he does only laproscopic which is good in some ways for quicker recovery. it cost me $8k. yeh i didn't have the money, and have had 1 ectopic but i am still okay. i am a christian so i believe that God is the author and finisher of all life. once again i think it really depends on how you ligation was done- where it was done along the tube and whether it was done laproscopically or in a c/section. each dr will tell you different things- it pays to do some of your own research and understand what they did.
em, how is the preparation going for ivf? i saw that you haven't had af yet? is that still right? i have to get checked out this week to. i haven't had af yet either and last month i only had spotting.
maz, couldn't see Mr Squiggley
I agree....You are only as old as you feel. I certainly don;t feel like i am 37. The only time i think i feel my age is when my 16yr son comes to visit on school holidays. He goes to a private school back in Brisbane. I also have the clamps, and so can't wait to have them off even for the first little while i can have my body back to normal and no more heavy clotty mp's. My mother had my brother when she was 40 and i was only 16 going on 17. He is now 20 and a great kid, so you are all right it doesn't matter how old you are, just as long as we are happy and we are and so can't wait to be doing the horizontal dancing to make the baby...LOL
Another silly ??? How soon did you start trying and if you were lucky how soon after having the reversal did you have your first bub? I guess i am so anxious to start trying as soon as i can after the reversal
cheers
kiya
hi luvchildren,
i'm having ivf in ballarat which is about 1 hour out of geelong. We have our apppointment to see the nurse co-ordinator on the 16th of july.
Maz i had the marina put in had every side effect . No period, hot flushes, nasuea, headaches everyday, i had symptoms of early menopause. I had it in for 1 year couldn't stand it anymore had it taken out, thats why i had the clamps put on.
Hope everyone has a great day, school holidays:D
ray:lol:
I had the thingo (pg brian kicking in) put in my arm and I got every side effect possible so im a little hesitent in putting something forgein in my body again.
AH school holidays and the boys ar edriving me INSANE already!!!!!
maz,
there that new contraception it's like a plastic ring ,it stays in for 4 days or so then you take it out. I can't remember the name of it.
in the arm it's called a implanon
ray:D
