    D&C after blighted ovum..silly question...

Hi, I am 15 weeks pregnant and have had 2nd ultrasound yesterday to confirm blighted ovum : (
As I have had no cramps or bleeding doc has suggested D&C and has given me a letter to take to a&e at local hospital...

I was just wondering if anyone knows what costs are involved for a D&C at a public hospital?? I dont have any private health care only the standard medicare. Dont need anymore stress!!

Also does anyone know whether I should get this done sooner rather than later?? I wasnt really told, just given the letter..is this urgent or could I wait and see if i miscarry naturally or...??

Any advice to make this easier is appreciated

    Thanks!

Caitlindean - firstly I am so sorry for your loss. I had a D&C in a public hospital and it didn't cost me a thing. Personally I would get it done sooner than later as if you havent miscarried by now, you may not. I felt very relieved after the d&C that I could start again fresh. It doesnt hurt and you are put to sleep and then after you may have a bit of cramping but not much and will bleed for up to 2 weeks.

I'm so sorry for your loss D&C is totally free though, I had mine done sooner rather than later just because I wanted it to be over. I hope everything goes smoothly xo

I am so sorry for your loss (((Hugs)))

The option to have a d&c or just wait is yours. If you want to wait a little longer to see if things happen on their own then you can. What did u/s measure your pregnancy at?

What ever you choose I will be thinking of you

    thanks everyone -

tanya, my first u/s at 13 weeks measured around 8w3d, my 2nd u/s at 15 weeks measured about 8 weeks so pretty much the same if not a tiny bit smaller - the sac itself is about 30mm from memory (if that sounds right??)- I had my bloods checked after 13 week u/s and the levels had dropped to 5900 so roughly 6 weeks... (at xmas they were 5200 which was ok so obviously something happend after that)

kitFaerie and erybery - thanks, just wanted to make sure I wasnt going to get a huge bill! I think it might be best to get a d&c too as I still have no cramping or bleeding and as soon as its done we can move on instead of waiting and waiting

thanks again, this was my first pregnancy so its all a bit new and confusing!
