Tonight, completely out of character, I wrote a poem for Reid. I haven't a creative bone in my body but once I started, the rest just flowed. Here it is:
One November day
There was a little boy
Who came into my world
In an early but precious way
I saw your beautiful face
Upon it was a smile
My heart I heard it break
So I held you for a while
I whispered in your ear
Son, I love you so
I touched your little fingers
And stroked your little toes
Then came in your big Sisters
Who held you in their arms
Cradling their Baby Brother
You left footprints on their Hearts
The rock that is your Daddy
His heart I saw it bleed
For his tiny little mate
Had forever gone to sleep
In our hearts you planted
A row of tiny seed
That grew flowers in remembrance
Of you our little man, Reid.
I'm so truely proud of myself and especially proud of Reid for whispering those words into my ear. I know it was him who helped me write it.
More and more I believe that he is here with us. Watching over us.
A few days after I had him we all went down to the local river as it was hot day. I had the camera with me and was just messing about taking random photos. I was standing in the river with the water up to my knees and this bright, iridescent blue Dragonfly flew right out in front of me and landed on a branch in front of me. Its sat there for a while and then flew away. I believe this was Reid telling me that he is here and he's ok.
After I wrote the poem lastnight, DP sent me a text to say that a Dragonfly had flown up to his window (at 11.30pm!) hovered for a bit and flew away. He came to visit again tonight
I know it might sound a little corny but its significant to us I guess.
Thanks again for all your lovely comments.
I hope those of you who know where the emotions come from when writing a poem like that can take some solace from it.
xx
