I'm getting nervous about the pain side if things. Not so much afterwards, but the nurse explained the medication before the procedure contracts the uterus and that worries me a little. How painful is it??
I had pain beforehand as I had started spontaneously miscarrying and had quite strong cramps. Afterward I had what was a bit like mild period pain for a day or two. Nothing that the panadeine they gave me didn't cover. It was more the emotional fallout that knocked me about.

I had very very minimal pain afterwards. I expected it to be similar to a laparoscopy but was nothing in comparison. Not even close to what pain I'm usually in for my periods!!!

After coming to in recovery, it felt like the mildest period pain i'd ever had, but an infection set in after my uterus was knicked during the procedure (can sometimes happen, but nothing I would want you to worry about beforehand) which lead me to the GP for AB's. It cleared off straight away and I physically healed well and quickly. I l conceived a healthy pregnancy 3 months later.
What hurts the most is the heartbreak, having to move on from of all the hopes and dreams you wanted for that baby/child inside you.

Thanks Sunny x I'm already focusing on ttc, some might say its too soon but this is what feels right for me. I'm glad to hear you conceived quickly. It is really hard changing our plans that we had for this baby.
After my d&c it wasn't too bad pain wise at all. As others have said the Panadol forte was enough. I wanted to wish all the best and also let you know I know many ladies who have gone on to have healthy pregnancies right after d&c.

After I took the medication my uterus just went in a tight hard ball, it felt like the Braxton hicks I had early in pregnancy with my DD. I even asked my ob. just before I was put to sleep whether it would affect the procedure since my uterus was SO contracted! Ofcourse he said no So to answer your question, nope doesn't hurt, u might just feel a little tense down there.
I had no pain after the procedure at all, just a lot of bleeding for 2 weeks. The emotional pain the couple days after was hard but I guess no worse then what your feeling now
And finally, just to give you a little hope, I fell pregnant without a cycle in between and am currently 8 weeks pregnant after only having the d&c at the very end of June. I really wasn't expecting it to happen that quickly but am so grateful it did!! Has definitely helped heal the wounds.
I was very sceptical about what to expect pain wise. The mst uncomfortable part was the pre-meds they gave me which was misoprostol, it bought on period like pain, but it was only mildly uncomfortable. I barely had so much as period pain afterwards, no pain relief needed. I used a wheat pack for a day or two after and that was all I needed. Oh and the bleeding stopped after two days, not to say that's common but things returned to normal very quickly.
I totally understand your need to get back to ttc, I was the same. Thankfully I am now pregnant again, and fell quickly. My d&c was on 5th June and I got my BFP on 1st September. I'm now 6 weeks and having my first scan this week.
If I can offer any advice, it would be to ask your GP for a follow up scan after your cycle has returned after the d&c. I felt the need to make sure everything was working again, and was fortunate to time the scan with developing follicles. The sonographer was able to tell me that I was definitely about to ovulate again, and that the lining was building up nicely. It gave me peace of mind that conditions were good if we had conceived straight away.

Thanks for thinking of me Shamleen, it was much much less painful than I expected, I hardly felt anything after the medication, I did start bleeding but no pain. And afterwards I took some panadol but that may have been more psychological than physical.
So I'm feeling ok, emotionally tired but ok.

Having a d&c, how much pain??
So to answer your question, nope doesn't hurt, u might just feel a little tense down there.
