We joined this wonderful forum last week as soon as we found out my partner was pregnant.

I would like to thank you to all your replies and advice to my 3 posts on one of the other sub-forums.

I am sad to report our pregnancy has ended at 4 weeks 5 days. We received our blood test results this morning and my partners HCG levels where too low. Plus she slightly bleed last night (brownish & red), and temperature dropped this morning as well.

This was our first pregnancy and we where over the moon last week but not anymore.

My partner was devastated but is holding up well. I kept reassuring her, no one was at fault and it was nature taking its course. We agreed to try again soon soon in a few months time...

We are not very happy with our GP's support and wondering if OB's take regular consulatation appointments without a referral? We are looking for more specialized advice (ie. pregnancy specific blood tests, folate/protesterone levels etc..).

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Your absolutely right that it was nature taking its course & no-one is to blame. You're both in my thoughts through this hard time...

I cant help you with your question sorry but I'm sure somebody else will have some answers for you.

Sounds like you are a great support to your wife.

I don't know of any obst that do consults without referrals. But couldn't you go to another GP if you were concerned? Hope you have some luck with this.

All the best and I hope all goes perfectly with your next pregnancy.

im so sorry for your loss..

my ob took me without a referral but he knows my mum.. so maybe give a call around!! i could of given you my ob number but i see you are in sydney! good luck and hope it all works out for you..

Sorry to hear the very sad news of your loss.

I think you'll need a referral to see an ob, and can get this from any GP. Good luck.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It sounds like you are doing a great job helping your wife through this very rough time.
Sorry i am in brisbane so i am not sure about the Ob's in Sydney. I wish you all the best and good luck with falling pg in a couple of months.

really sorry for your loss - you sound like a wonderful couple who will be the best support for each other through this time.
i think you will need a referral for an OB, maybe call the GP and ask for one (you can usually tell them which OB you want, so perhaps call a few to see who can see you at short notice as they do get v v busy) or as the others have said you could go to another GP and just request the tests that you want (or back to yuor GP and explain you want to be v cautiousso could s/he order the following tests and take a list with you). You have a right to have the tests you need and you should def follow up.

What area are you looking for a GP? Mine is good and is in Lane Cove, I can PM you the details, they did all the blood tests you mentioned and some others and referals to OB etc and we also saw a Fertility Specialist too and dietician. The GP I had when I was pregnant moved to Castle Hill and she was wonderful, happy to PM you details if you wish.
