Thanks, I seem to have this massive stock pile of x-rays, ultrasounds and what not, sick of looking at it all and the ultrasounds are particularly depressing...I shall dump them with the rubbish this week.
No, i don't think there is any need for you to keep them if you didn't want to. Your drs would have a copy of the report and maybe the films if they ever did want to look at them.
I think its a personal choice if you want to keep them or not. I didn't want to keep mine. If they looked like babies to me I would have felt different but they were very early and the one I could see the baby was not in the uterus and it was too painful to be reminded that my body had failed him/her as that baby never had a hope of making it to the uterus. If it did I am sure bub would still be here today. Also my ultrasounds were only ever done after I knew the pregnancy was not progressing. If they were done before hand I would definately have wanted to keep them as a reminder of how happy/excited I was at that moment. My scans with the pregnancies I have lost have only been a negative experience. I also have the option to get the scans in the future (as they are online where I work)
If you do decide not to keep them I would keep the conclusion or the paper saying what the scans read. You never know when some Dr or specialist might want to see them down the track. I am sorry that anyone has to make this decision
Hmmm I might file the paper part away (the reports) because they are from all over the place, Hobart, Brisbane and here so might be hard to get a hold of?
I can't stand looking at the actual pictures/ultrasounds so good to know I can dump them.
I never got to take home a copy of the ultrasound from my first angel, but I do regret not having it and wish I could get it now.
Buy if it will make you feel better then go ahead and dump them, no use having something around you that is only going to make you feel sad and down *hugs*
