Waiting for AF after M&L #3

Hello Everyone,

I had a m/c and d/c early august, I am driving myself nuts waiting for AF. Top it off, Ive had cold sores, now I have the dreaded gastro. YUK. I never used to check my vaginal mucous, but I have noted for the last 2 weeks or so, It has been thick, white, gluggy. Now hardly any at all. I presume this is normal. I am looking forward to see my o/bs friday week.

ITs here 5 weeks and three days since m/c. When do you guys thin my fertile window will be?

yep, im still waiting, four weeks and two days since m/c and still waiting.
wouldnt it be great if it just didnt! wishful thinking i know.
have had lots of o ing type pains in ovaries etc, hopefully something will happen soon....
are you temping or anything chloe? do you know how regular and long your cycles were?
i have heard it can take a few cycles after m/c for your body to get back on track.

i am still hanging around, it's been 12 weeks and 1 day so far. i thought af was here but she has gone awol or mia or something...so i am going to have to take the provera...bugger, was really hoping she was going to show up without resorting to it...

yes still waiting myself, 4weeks today since D&C, no sign of it either, been temping and no O thus far!! :wall:
Charlie23, my FS is going to induce my AF in 6wks, I presume he might use provera (but actually don't know), have you heard if it's a bad thing to do? Is that why you don't want it, or does it have side effects??

Nellsbells ~ It does have side effects and lots of them, as do most medications. I was hoping against all odds not to have to use the drugs.

And I didn't, AF arrived yesterday afternoon and has left already (?????), well maybe not left but certainly is lighter than anything I have had in a long time...I am a 3 day AF girl here and usually not heavy at all. No idea what is going on, I am hoping that it is just taking time to release all the built up endometrium(sp)...

Liz - I know what a huge waste of 3 months, waiting and waiting and waiting...but hopefully this is the real thing and we can get back to TTC in 2 weeks!!! How are you going?

StarrySky - I wish I could say that this happened to me too, but it didn't... I only got the mega cramping and the such, it was only after I found the EWCM is when I knew that I was going to be seeing AF for the first time in 7 weeks!
You'll be fine, and if you get too worried, go see the DR

all ok, af started properly today, is just not the usual way things go, but i suppose i will just have to get used to that for a while. thanks though lj.

It is coming up to nearly 6 weeks sinc d & C, still no signs of AF. After d&c I had light bleeding for 3 days. Then DP and I started trying. After several HPT, which all -ve (of course!), I am still waiting for AF. Has anyone used Provera, what are the side effects? I am seeing the ob's this friday. Is there a certain amount of time you have to wait before using Provera? I have read other posts that it can take a while for AF/body to get back to normal. I was 10 weeks (early aug) when I had the d&c. For about 2 weeks I experienced thick white gluggy CM, now it is very little. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Provera - What side effects may occur?
Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Provera.

More common side effects may include:
Acne, anaphylaxis (life-threatening allergic reaction), blood clot in a vein, lungs, or brain, breakthrough bleeding (between menstrual periods), breast tenderness or sudden or excessive flow of milk, cervical erosion or changes in secretions, depression, excessive growth of hair, fever, fluid retention, hair loss, headache, hives, insomnia, itching, lack of menstruation, menstrual flow changes, spotting, nausea, rash, skin discoloration, sleepiness, weight gain or loss, yellowed eyes and skin.

I saw my OB at the 11 week mark and he gave me a script for Provera but as we were in the process of moving and me flying to Sydney, it would have been ultra embarrassing to get AF on the plane with nothing to change into or stop the leaking!

I did not end up taking the Provera as I had a sneaky feeling she was on her way and she arrived finally after 86.5 days, post my Missed M/c and D&C, I was meant to be 12 w 2d but baby was only measuring 10w 4d.

I had spotting and cramping at around CD30 & CD60 marks, so when I would have normally been O'ing but it did not result in AF.

Thanks for you congrats girls - she was only here for 2 days and with next to no cramping! TTC here we come!

thanks for the info, I have seeing the ob's tommorrow. I will probably wait until AF arrives...it's damn frustrating, because I don't know if I am even ovulating.

I know what you mean mumstar, I'm 4.5wks post D&C and nothing. I had positive OPK 2days ok, we bd like crazy but unfortunately no temp rise, so I probably haven't ovulated. I'm seeing my FS next friday, and I think I will get the script for provera (or whatever they recommend) My friend has had provera before, and she didn't suffer any side effects.
How did you go today at your appointment? I can't wait for mine now, so we can get straight into TTC. 28 days seems so short compared to my 50day cycles before I used clomid, so looking forward to getting straight back onto it!!!

Spoke to my OB's and he said that my AF should have started but it's not a big deal. I asked if I should wait another month then if no AF see him again. He said that he wouldn't do anything even if it arrived. I just have to wait till it comes. It's not very often you are wishing for AF to come or not for 9 months. I think I will start temping, do you need a special thermo. or anyone will do. Best are to test is in the mouth or underarm? With my CM its been a bit all over, so I can't even tell with that. I wish that once you have a d&C that straight away your body is back to normal. Arggh.

Hi mumstar, I use a glass thermometer, and stick it under my tongue first thing before getting up. The only problem is, apparently you need to keep it in for 5mins (can be hard not to fall back to sleep) You can use digital thermos which only take about a minute, but I read somewhere that the glass basal body thermometers are more accurate.
It is best to take from your mouth, (though you can vaginally) but obviously whichever you choose, don't change.
The nurse at my Repro clinic did say that before inducing AF they need to do an ultrasound to check my lining, so I presume if it isn't thick enough, they wouldn't do anything either, don't know, just want to get there friday and start to sort my cycle out. I keep hoping that I will ovulate, but still no temp rise, so I think I'm kidding myself, it's been 36days since my d& C.
I can't really tell with my CM either, it's hard when you are b'ding to really determine whats what in there.....(sorry TMI)

Mumstar- I had my appointment today, mixed feelings, but I suppose mostly ok. I had to have a BT this am, HCG=0 so no little bub there, but I knew deep down there wasn't cause I didn't think I had o'd, but one still hopes.....
Well the FS nurse did my ultrasound, lining was thick, no eggs even looking like growing, so this is kinda good and kinda bad I think. BUT because no eggs, it would mean I wouldn't get AF for ages, and that means we are right to go with the meds. She prescribed me Primolut (norethisterone) which is a synthetic progesterone tab. I take it for 7days, then stop and in a couple of days AF should arrive. Then I go back onto Clomid to stimulate those eggies!!! and hopefully like last time, we get a :bfp: first round!!!:crossfingers::crossfingers:
So your OB just wants to wait?? If you haven't had cycle problems before then I think I would wait for AF, but because I wasn't ovulating beforehand, fair chance I wasn't going to now...

Nellsbells - sorry its been a little while since getting back, had my DD 2nd birthday to organise (she cried the whole day!!! LOL) I really do hope AF arrives for you now that you are taking the tablets. Well it's 7 weeks and 2 days since D&C, and still NO AF. For the last week or so, most days I have been feeling crampy....even right now..but still no sign. My DH and I will give it to 12 weeks then if still nothing see my Ob. We have been doing the bd'ing to try and bring it on or get pregnant!! I am trying not to stress out but its horrible waiting.

it's been 9wks for me now since m/c and d and c and still no af yet my gyno said go back if nothing in 4wks and that was 3wks ago now the only thing i have had was brown disscharge yesterday [sorry tmi] and that's it so i'm still waiting

Does the Ob's say what he will do if AF still hasn't shown up. I decided to try vitex (herbal suppl) to see if this can regulate things. Let me know how you get on.

Mumstar I haven't read much on vitex, but hope it helps!! I might quiz my nurse about it.

It's ironic that after all this we are eagely waiting AF!!

Nellsbell - How strange that we are wishing for AF to arrive, normally we don't won't her to arrive. Let me know what your nurse says about vitex.

She is here (AF)!!!!:dance::dance:6 1/2 wks since d&C, (but she needed assistance!) She actually arrived wednesday, but didn't think it was right because I was still on the primolut and the nurse had told me it wouldn't arrive until I stopped taking it. I spoke to her today and she said that it was ok I started early!! I'm loving all my symptoms (strange hey??) So I start my clomid on sunday and we go from there:pray:.
mumstar- I asked her about vitex, but she really didn't know, she said they advise their couples on IVF to have "ellovit" and the DPs to have a "swiss mulitvitamin"???? So for this cycle, I'll just do the same as last time (clomid and my normal pregnancy vitamin) and pray it works, if it doesn't, I might go see a naturopath. What do you think???

Glad to hear AF has arrived-this means the countdown in the TWW is on.

Me, still nothing (no AF yet). It's frustating because I have had cramps now for 2 1/2 weeks, the last 4-5 days sore BB's and they feel heavier, it's driving me nuts...these symptoms plant a little seed in your head that hey, maybe, I am pregnant. But after oh gee 4-5 different preg tests its a BFN. Sorry, i needed to whinge (We all have these days). Please god, bring on AF for me, then I know my body is ready for another baby.

Better go, have to clean the house for the everyone coming over for the AFL grand final.

hi i finally got my first af after 9wks and 4 days since the m/c but the thing is iv'e only had it for like 3 days and already it looks like it's just about finished is that normal 3 days??

Well still no AF, its 8 weeks and 5 days, saw the doctor (gp) today, he said to wait until its been around 16 weeks since d & c before anything be done-like u/s again. He did do a blood test, but he said he will probably show nothing. So it's wait and see still, it's not fun being in limbo - waiting for AF so I can properly be in the TTW.
