    Family Day Care

Well now that i have been successful in getting into Uni it looks as though i may need to put my DD into some sort of care - im not a fan of child care centres so i was thinking of Family Day Care!
I just wanted to hear all about it from mothers that currently use it!
Im extremely worried and nervous about putting my girl in any type of care and leaving her with a stranger!
Would like to hear the good along with the bad!!!

    Thankyou muchly

My DD has been in FDC since she was 5 months old. She's now 16months old and LOVE it!
She has made lots of new friends and has formed a really close bond with her daycare mum. I love it because she has the same person everyday. Our routines were continued from home (as much as possible anyway), although she stills gets sick- i can imagine it would be more in a bigger centre, her daycare mum stills does all the same things that would happen in a centre eg, craft, water play, etc, they have an excursion each week to a bigger playgroup to interact in a bigger group.
I couldn't recommend it highly enough!

    BTW - CONGRATS on UNI!

MR - thanks - i read ur post - how do i get into contact with a FDC who goes through the accrediation etc that you mentioned?

**Sunshine** - i don't like the idea of anyone taking my DD out - do they have to go on exercusions - the thought of someone driving with my DD in the car scares the heebie jeebies out of me! im going to be a tough sooky mum to deal with i think! LOL
    And thankyou on the Congrats!!!

FDC can be run through local councils as well as other organisations like Wesley and Mission. They go though a pretty tough accreditation system (or I thought it was when I read my mums accreditation requirements!) and the surveys I've had to fill out as a parent for my carer to regain her accreditation.
Not all carers go out to playgroups etc that is something you would have to ask the carer when you meet them. I'lll try and find the post I put up a while ago re FDC and things to look for.
