OK, I'm not silly I know how to put on a nappy, I've changed a few 1000 in my time (albeit on a girl), but.... we now have a gorgeous 1 week old baby boy and since I've come home from hospital and started using Huggies disposable nappies he seems to be getting wet on his back above his nappy - he is so wet we are going thru many complete changes of clothing a day. We point his doodle down when we put the nappy on and they aren't loose, so WHAT ARE WE DOING WRONG???? Any handy advice?
Maybe he is just doing really big wees all the time - that can happen with any gender baby. There are inserts like a pad that you can get to put in them but they are quite big and are better suited to older babies. It's hard when they are so little and even newborn nappies seem big kwim? So I don't think you are doing anything wrong. Actually you could probably try even putting a normal sized sanitary pad in his nappy to see if that absorbs the extra before it can leak out?
This might sound stupid but is it DEFINITELY wee? DD sweat so much from her back some nights she was going through onto the sheets. Another kid i knew's neck was so sweaty after holding her for 5 minutes she'd start to slide down your arm. Poor kid!
Maybe try a different brand of nappy. He could be a "wee less frequently but does big ones" baby. Caleb would always leak out one side where the wings crossed over, damn annoying that was!
Are the nappies a bit loose on him ATM? Perhaps if you tried a cover of some kind it could help keep the wee contained.
