    Washable Swim Nappies- Help!!

    Hay All!
Steph and I are off to our first baby swim lessons, starting this Saturday. Yay us! (Especially being that I can't swim, and am nervous in the water).
Okay, what we do need are swim nappies! I was hoping to buy a pair of the washable ones (aquanappies or something like that), but I can't find them anywhere! (Except on ebay, and I wouldn't get them before the weekend anyway). I've looked in our BigW, 2 Targets, and Kmart.
And since she weighs just under six kilos, the Lil Swimmers are too big!

    Does anyone have any ideas?

I haven't bought the lil swimmers yet, as I really wanted the washable ones, but she's only a skinny little thing, so I didn't think they'd fit her. She's still only in the Infant size huggies.

I got one from the pool. They sell them along with goggles and swimming caps etc.

Failing that I'm sure I've seen them at Target.

That's a good idea Sammi, I will ring the pool tomorrow, and if no luck, then the other three or so pools in Sunbury to see if they have them. Maybe I didn't see them in either Target because its winter.

Netix, my friend and I use the lil' swimmers and chuck them in the wash. By the time the next week comes around they're dry. I haven't actually used a new one yet - they're pretty hardy.

Is that wrong?? Where i take DS for swimming lessons really isn't that well equipped with useful stuff for babies, so I've not heard of the "actual" real McCoy washable ones.

We have the imse vimse swim nappies at The Nappy Bucket (see sig) I have taken my DD swmming in these and poo hasn't been a problem but she hasn't done a huge one in them yet. They have won awards overseas apparently and are the only swim nappy approved by swimming pools over in EC apparently (this is the marketing the sent me anyway) I love them and they come in a good range of sizes esp for small bubs

Rach, The pool man says that we can use the disposables or washables, 'as long as all the solids are kept within the nappy'. And I did google bright bots, there is noone near me that sells them. The closest people from the list at bright bots don't sell them anymore!
Lesty, I spoke to the swim school man yesterday, and he said that some people do wash and reuse the lil swimmer nappies sometimes, but that would be my choice...
Saram, I wish I had looked at the Belly marketplace first. I could have ordered one from you!
Ray, I saw a pair of those wetsuit type nappies, but I couldn't figure out if they had adjustable waists or not.

I called one of the other pools in Sunbury, and they sell the washable ones. I will look at them tomorrow, and if I don't like them, then I guess I will have to get a pack of lil swimmers, and buy a pair from the belly market! That is, unless I can miraculously potty train Steph in one day.....

I'm sure our BigW has some, with little drawstrings.

Also, I put Em in the little swimmers way before the size said she'd fit into them.

As for after this weekend though, I have the splash about swim nappy - & it is FANTASTIC!! Such a good fit & very cute. I can highly recommend them, as Ray said, from Darlings Downunder.

Linda, I looked in our BigW, nothing. Target Country, nothing. Target at Westfield, nothing. Kmart at Westfield, nothing. Same with all the chemists! Most people had no idea what on earth I was on about. I will look at Darlings Downunder too. Right now, reading up on toilet training. I am somewhat confused by our society's lack of ability (or interest?) to be able to have our babies out of nappies and know when it is they have to go. I think I will go off and start a new thread in the TT section. Maybe.

Netix, DS has the Bambino Mio ones. I understand Baby Bunting in Melbourne (East Bentleigh and Maribyrnong) has them (just checked on the bambino mio website). Hope this isn't too late.

Thanks Ryn, I actually went to the Sunbury pool, and bought a pair of bright pink speedos, with a drawstring and velcro. I ended up with these, as the lil swimmer and imsie vimsie ones, since they are just pull ones, I thought would be too big in the waist. But, the speedos worked a treat and fitted pretty well. The lesson went really well.
