hi there,
I have been thinking more and more about nappies for my coming 2nd bub. I will be doing a combination of pocket nappy types, fitted cloth and disposables - but after hearing so many problems with Huggies, I am interested in the biodegradable ones on the market.
what have you used?
what did you like about them?
what did you NOT like about them?
Cost ??
I am probably going to use this kind of disposable nappy for night time..
Eenees: Pretty good and 100% biodegradable. But the pad usually bunches a bit so you end of scrubbing the inserts anyway. Quite a few leaks also. May as well just use MCNs
Safties: the only 100% biodegradable full nappy. Sizing is very small. Very expensive. Made of cotton (very water intensive and non-organic) so I am not a fan
Moltex: Havent personally used. About 80% biodegradable. Have heard good things.
Bambo: Used until we moved regional and couldnt get them. We now use MCNs. About 80% biodegradable. Reasonable price (but more expensive than supermarket brands). Great quality. No problems. My fav from this lot.
FWIW the biodegradable nappies can't break down in landfill because of the anaerobic conditions.
If you compost them or dig them into the soil they will break down fine but if you put them in the bin and send them to landfill they won't break down much more than the non-biodegradable.
