How long did it take your DD/DS to consistently do number 2's on the loo?
Ive been TT my DD for nearly 5 weeks. She has the wee thing down pat during the day and has only done 4 poos on the toilet in this time. Wednesday was the first time she told me 'I need to go to the toilet' and we made it in time for a poo. The other 3 times, I've caught her starting to do it in her undies.
The thing is, she's quite regular and usually goes between 12 and 2pm. I insist on a rest time (sometimes get a sleep out of her) and she has this in her bedroom. For this reason I put a nappy on her. 90% of the time she does a poo in the nappy within 20 mins of the nappy going on (despite putting her on the toilet before the nappy goes on). Today it was about 3 minutes after I left the room! It's a little frustrating as I can see she understands, just doesnt want to do it on the loo. We have a reward system in place for poos. Started as stickers (which she chose), and has now progressed to giving her a new pair of undies every time she does a poo on the toilet. She understands, just doesnt seem to care.
My DD is 2yrs and 5 months old.
So...........
How old were they when you started TT?
and
How long did it take for them to do poo's on the toilet?
Jack has been day trained since jan so 27mths and its really only the last 3 month of so where he has consistantly gone to toilet for #2 before that he would demand a nappy or when he had his night nappy on would do it within 5min without fail
hello.... my dd is just over 2 and a half years, has been toilet trained for wee's since she was about 2, and it is only in the last week or so that she consistently gone to the toilet for number 2's... she would always wait for a nappy to be put on, holding it in until then, or just flat out asking for a nappy so she could do a poo. She really resisted and it did drive me nuts as it went on so long.... in the end i casually mentioned that when she does finally do her poo's on the toilet, we would have a little party.... she did it that day by herself and only told me afterwards.... she had a little cup of M&M's to celebrate (what a crappy party!!)
hang in there, she will do it eventually.... i also stressed the importance of doing number 2's in the toilet so she could go to kinder next year.... this is also working with getting her to do all sorts of things, like drinking out of a proper cup instead of drink bottles/sippy cups...
Ahh, that does make me feel better. At least she is doing it in a nappy and not squatting in a corner to produce a steamer. You'd think that the feeling of having it hang in the nappy (even if it's just a short period) would be enough to want to do it on the toilet. Who knows.
I love the idea of a party (and that's not crappy at all for a 2 year old!!!) And the idea of kindy next year could also work for us too as DD is going one day a week in 2010. Thankyou.
I told DD that Santa would LOVE her to be able to do poo's on the toilet before he comes to visit. More encouragement.......maybe when it gets closer.......
I started TTing DS at about 2 and a half, can't remember exactly how old he was now.
He was great with wees after about 3 days and it took a couple of weeks to get the hang of poos on the potty. He was in undies full time after about 2 weeks.
Then all of a sudden, after about a month, he stopped doing poos on the potty. I have no idea why. He would just do poos in his undies. It drove us mad, I even posted about it! No worries with wees on the potty, but he wouldn't do wees on the toilet unless we were out and about.
Then we went on holidays when he was about 2 months off the age of 3 and we got him to use the toilet for wees so the potty went away when we got home and he was fine. Still pooed in his undies.
DH was getting really fed up but I put my thinking cap on and started talking about how he was going to be 3 years old soon (he was very excited about his birthday coming up) and how big boys do poos on the toilet...and that if he did poos on the toilet he could have a little piece of chocolate!
That worked like a charm. It took a couple of times when he pooed in his undies and thought he would get a chocolate for just doing a poo and then there were tears when we explained no, it was only for pooing on the toilet. Once we got him to do it once we never had another accident. He's happy to do poos on toilets when we are out and about, no problem at all, now 100% TT and it is heaven.
So...consistently pooing on the loo from 2 years 11 months.
DS TT at just over 3 years old (he was 3 in september).. in 1 day. I tried TT him a few months earlier and i had to constantly remind him and even then he still didnt get it and kept having accidents. So i held off.. waiting for summer really. Then he just told me one day he wanted to go to the toilet. So i took him. That evening i put undies on him at home and he went to the toilet. The next day he did it all day. And ever since has been the same. He wears pull ups to bed but i havent had a wet one in over a month. He gets up during the night to go to the toilet. So as for how soon for poos.. from word go. I believe as they say, "he was ready".
