I never knew this was illegal until i started my research on MCNs!
TBH, even after i knew it was wrong, i still do it sometimes. Sometimes DD's poo stinks so bad that i cant stand it and throw the whole thing straight in the bin asap!!! trying to stop from gagging!
Ive wondered the same thing. Often thought about bagging my used items up and going to a pulic loo to dispose of them in their special bins...but decided to go another way instead.:
Would we then have to be anal about bandaides, toe nail clippings, snot in tissues and hair?? I know if sounds silly but its human waste....isnt it :dunno:
But in the same token then, nappies have wee in them so why are we permitted to put that into the bin as it is a waste???
My FIL is a waste water treatment officer at our local water authority, he hates disposable flushable LINERS with a passion as he has to fish them out by hand when they clog up the whole system. Same as stupid flushable panty liners they are bringing out now. Its just ridiculous. Yeah they may be flushable but that does not mean they dissapear never to be seen by anyone again. If its not you putting them in the bin its people like my FIL after they have clogged everything up.
I use sposie nappies and no I dont scrape the poo into toilet, the poos are too runny at the moment when they become more solid I might re assess the situation.
I never knew that about liners....OMG and here people are led to believe that they dissolve into the sewer system.

While you can make your best attempts to put it in the toilet first, I wonder at the practicality of anyone trying to enforce removing newborn sloppy poo from a disposable nappy? Honestly, I tried, but sometimes it does not come away! It's so liquid that the disposables tend not to 'let go' of very much.
And why is it that we're encouraged to dispose of doggy-doo in bins?

Jen...with the dog poo we always put it in our compost along with the chicken poo ect.
SO why can was do that and not put human poo in the compost ....(feeling blah talking over this now :sick:)
Yeh i have wondered about this too. Some councils have special doggy bins for dog poo. They provide plastic bags for you to put the dog poo in and then place it in their bins. What do they do with it? im sure it goes straight to the dumps because who would take the poo out of the plastic bags and compost them.:
I never knew about it until I read on here I think a year ago or so....sometime anyway. I had never read the pkt except for the size to ensure I got the right ones LOL. I admitt, no I don't flush anything down the toilet, I put them in a nappy bag & in the bin.
TBH & just IMO (I stress IMO) if it was so very very illegal it would be made way more aware on the pkt etc & I read the pkt to check & it says "should" not "must"....guess that leaves it open for those to either flush or not.
Our council website actually says its fine. But you know what it says you SHOULDN'T do empty your vacuum cleaner directly into the bin, it says you should bag it first. I wonder how many people do that too? Maybe its different council to council or state to state. Otherwise surely they would say the same for cat litter/dog waste, and sanitary products.

as at the nursing homes i have worked in we just thrown the used adult diapers into the regular bin not contaminated waste.
as it is classed and everyday human excreetion.
only excessive bklood or contaminate bodily fluid needs to be incinerated.
i dont flush the poo down the loo.
to me human blood is just as bad as poo, if not worse. all bad organisms and contractable diseases are transmitted through both blood and poo and wee and any human excreation actually so i dont see why "poo" is singled out.
it is still ok to thrown your sanitary pad away or tampon but not your childs poo

My brother is a commercial diver and spent quite a bit of time dealing with that kind of stuff down in the sewers. They call them rag monsters :lol: They had to hack one apart at Bondi full of you- don't- want- to- know- what!:
I never knew about it being illegal when I used sposies either but I'm enlightened now ;) If we use them for whatever reason I shake them off in the loo.
i know of so many woman who just fluss their used tampoons down the loo, now wondering how many of the your FIL see's Salad
We had BIL and wife stay here a few years back and AF was in the house for her...quiet obviously she used tampoons....and our sewer pipe got blocked :( yep by tampoons....(plumber confirmed it for us by pulling 3 out)
I dont use them personally so I knew it wasnt me....blah
I just checked our local council website and it's not illegal to put out pooey nappies in our area either. Just so long as it's not medical waste it's ok to go by the kerb along with tampons and so on.
I always bag the vacuum dust.
I guess you put in the general waste what you would be happy to filter down into the water table :dunno: I just wish they would hurry up and invent the nano-technology that would see nano particles being injected into landfill waste deposits and decontaminate / reclaim recyclable material. Just something that sprung to my mind LOL
I also wonder how much disposable nappies had to do with the underground methane issues they had on that new building estate... when all those people had to leave their homes? Not passing judgment in saying that... I use sposies too.
It's not illegal to put pooey nappies in the bin in the council next to ours either.
I'm beginning to suspect that the illegality is an urban myth.
