Just wanted to know......

how many throw a fully pooed in nappy straight into the bin???

Do any disposable user's actually flick, scrap the poo down the toilet before disposing of the nappy?

Its actually illegal to throw human waste product into your bin. Go and get the packaging that your nappies come in and check the back..its written there for everyone to see...but honestly who reads the back??? I know i never did when I used disposables with my eldest 2 but I put the poo down the loo for the smell factor.

I've always scraped any "chunky" bits which has only been since DD started on solids! - Prior to that most of her poos were typical runny bfeed poos so was harder to scrape away..... I only do this as my sister had 4 kids so i watched her do it... I never bothered to read the back of the pack but had heard its illegal to dump human waste in generic garbage...

The bins in the parents rooms can it be thrown in there? Like the sanitry bins? just curious cause it always makes the PR stink.

yeah ive heard this. Ive never put the poo in the toilet. DD poo's alot and they still arnt very "solid". so regardless of how much i scrape off, her poo will always go in the rubish, as washing it under a tap isnt an option either. That being said, i wish she would poo in her sposies more often, but no she leaves it for the nice and while MCN's. LOL

So yes, i dont, never read it... so arrest me

Ive jsut read (yep googling away here ) that you should use a disposable liner if poo isnt solid so the whole lot can go in to the loo.

Gosh...not much different to using cloth in my eyes lol

Chunky ones i dispose of but runny a bit harder to handle. Researching MCN tho so soon will be all down the loo

Can I just say. Can we please not have another us vs them conversation about disposables vs clothies. We have enough divisions in our world. And I don't want this to be another superiority competition. Lets not divide

Maz - cant seem to use any of them coz of our septic. since starting to use MCN's, there is a huge difference in them both... cost! i could have brought a nice car with the money i have spent on sposies lol.

I wasn't aware of that Maz...Thanks for pointing it out! I will make a conscious effort to scrape or flick off what i can...And i'll look out for the disposable liners too. I dont think i've ever seen them anywhere?

Yes, this was one thing that concerned me and motivated me to use cloth as much as possible but by my third child I only managed it 50% of the time.

The main problem with sposies is that they are sooo absorbant... my BF babies poos just soaked right in... there was no getting it all out. What then? If it could be scraped off that's what I did... but lots couldn't be scraped.

Don't have council bins here, have to take ours to the tip ourselves. I do a mix of in the toilet and straight in the bin. Depends on the poo and the water situation. We are on tank water, so every poo means an extra flush. Everything is a trade off here.

I am pretty sure when I was using the recycling service that there was not need to flush the poo as their systems dealt with all that.

While you can make your best attempts to put it in the toilet first, I wonder at the practicality of anyone trying to enforce removing newborn sloppy poo from a disposable nappy? Honestly, I tried, but sometimes it does not come away! It's so liquid that the disposables tend not to 'let go' of very much.

Jen...with the dog poo we always put it in our compost along with the chicken poo ect.

SO why can was do that and not put human poo in the compost ....(feeling blah talking over this now )

I never knew about it until I read on here I think a year ago or so....sometime anyway. I had never read the pkt except for the size to ensure I got the right ones LOL. I admitt, no I don't flush anything down the toilet, I put them in a nappy bag & in the bin.
TBH & just IMO (I stress IMO) if it was so very very illegal it would be made way more aware on the pkt etc & I read the pkt to check & it says "should" not "must"....guess that leaves it open for those to either flush or not.
