Brand differences

This may be a silly question but there is obviously a difference b/w different brands of fitted cloth nappies, so I'm wondering is there a difference in the quality b/w different brands of terry toweling or flanellette nappies? Are there any that you don't recommend? Thanks.

Yes there definitly is. I think that Canningvale are a good brand of flannelette, but someone who knows more would have to pop in and let oyu know

I have Canningvale terry towelling flats but they're super bulky so I use them for Caty's change mat and for burping. I use flanellette 'Big Softies' and they're great. I got them from Myer and the terry's from DJs but I imagine you can get them anywhere. I can't use snappi's on the flanellettes but I use a PUL cover which holds it all in. I've never had a leak.

there can be big differences between the different brands of fitted cloth nappies.some are made by experienced/well known wahm's (work at home mums) with tried/tested patterns- some are made by people who have just learn to sew and may not know what they are doing! just hoping to make a quick buck:P
id avoid ebay personally, or look at their feedback at the very least!
fluffies brand that you can buy in the shops - avoid like the plague,LOL. they are made from non-absorbent wadding!
there is a forum called nappycino, it has reviews on different brand, and forums with a wealth of info

For the flats, flanelette nappies are better for a newborn because they aren't as bulky as the terry. I've got big softies and they have done fantastically well.
There are heaps of differences in the fitted cloth. It really is quite mind boggling!
I'm learning all the time what works and what doesn't work for Caleb. If you really don't like a particular nappy then you can sell it on ebay. Caleb has really fat legs and I'm considering selling off a few that cut into him a bit more than I like. Other bubbas are leaner and would suit them more than him. It's trial and error really IYKWIM.
Pop on into the Cloth Nappy Chatter which is stickied at the top of this thread and you'll learn heaps (if you can keep up ).
Sites like nappycino are a wealth of information too.
Google is great for research. Just enter the name of the nappy and you're off!

Thanks everyone. They seem to vary in price dramatically as well so that is what got me questioning the quality. Looks like i will definitely be getting some flanalettes to start with as well. Thanks again.

i made my own flannel nappies for T when he was a newbie it turns out nappy flannel is cheap in spotlight but normal flanel is alot wider and comes in funky colours and costs the same pretty simple just to hem them , we liked the flanny nappies but even the good brands seemed to wear out pretty quickly then they were cut up and turned inot wipes and liners
