Nappy Results in from Choice

Late last year i took part in a disposable nappy trial . The trial took 15 days...the results are on the choice website (under reviews and tests). I found it quite interesting to look over the results.
5 women were picked (separate to the sposie study) to test MCN....their results are online too.

Interesting just had a quick read. Only 5 types of cloth nappies tho...Ooh there are so many more good on them for at least trying I guess it was more the trial of sposies.

Some of the comments about the cloth nappies made me giggle. A few golden rules of MCN care broken there

So am I reading it right that for the cloth nappies - the Pea Pods were rated top? Is good to see MCN's included but seems a bit odd to choose ones that are all different styles so you can't really compare e.g. one pocket, one AIO, one SIO, one fitted with cover etc. I do have some pea pods but they are my least favourite pocket.

I did that once.. it was a new 'formula' nappy trial. The old type of one, the new type of one and two other different brands... One of the manufacturers nappy types gave harry the worst ever nappy rash and it took a couple of weeks to clear it up again. At that point we decided not to do anything like that again, as you could imagine.

How interesting!
I used PP with DS and loved them, but didn't love how some woudl randomly have the PUL lining separate from teh cloth. Hoping to not even need the ones I have in M for DD by the time she's that size, cos elimination communication is clearly the bees knees for us and dealing with smeary bums is such a rare occurrence that I'm quite spoiled and used to it!
Anyhow, PP's seem to be a good intro for many people into the world of MCN

hmmm interesting, but not really surprising. I was shocked to see the Coles brand nappy cost as much as the Huggies though.

Did those women using cloth really use it prior to the trial I wonder? Certainly didn't sound like it....and they couldn't have picked worse MCNs to trial lol.

I noticed this too! I took part in the trial as well and I actually rated the coles nappies quite high.. so I went to Coles to check out the prices and I was very surprised at how expensive they were (will stick to Aldi)

I am now using MCN's anyway.. and would have loved to have taken part in the trial for the MCNs, but I agree they didnt choose enough of the brands and really should have had a larger test group. At the start of the section on cloth it gives you a background on the 5 people who did the trial, and if they had used them before.

Hmmm, very interesting to me that all the disposables rated in a very similar way overall, EXCEPT for the Huggies. I wonder whether this is because the Huggies are much easier to recognise (brand-wise) and so was rated by people who already favored this brand??? They can't actually be that much better than every other nappy on the market - I used them and I've used others and TBH there wasn't a huge difference, kwim?

In all honestly, I dont rate any nappy survey.
Its a nice overall generalistion but htere are so many variables - not the least of which is the babys body shape.
Even in disposables, some people swear by one brand while others have nothing but problems with them.
The MCN test are pretty useless as they compare different kinds of nappies with each other, althogh the IB AIO v AI2 at least is within the same brand.

what i liked about the survey was being able to compare price per nappy. it would be cool to actually see a larger chunk of the reviewers feedback, as this seemed really too brief to give insight ITMS.

i was also a bit disappointed with the MCN section. it seemed very limited and they are comparing apples with oranges. would of been nice to see a wider array of MCNs being reviewed too (for example, i use BumGs, Cushie Tushie and an italian brand...name escapes me...argh).
